Act 1
INT. HKUST - 15:00
Leaving the China Gardens and entering the atrium, PETER is taking photos like a tourist.
PETER (V.O.): As a Council Member here, I want to promote HKUST's institutional development via my e-platforms as well.
Peter checks the images on screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Does this one mirror life? Or more like a dream to me?
We see on Peter's phone screen some forms assembled in light and shade.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the main infrastructure of HKUST is already 30 years old.
Peter re-examines the image.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's unambiguously distinct. It appeals to my eyes.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How can an old architecture look new?
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. CHINA GARENS, HKUST - 14:00 (Today)
Together with other GUESTS, Peter is having desserts. We hear the mentioning of "Knowles Building".
PETER: I'm a HKU graduate too.
GUEST#1: What did you study?
PETER: Law. And you?
GUEST#1: Architecture.
PETER: It takes more years than law and medicine to get qualified as an architect. Right?
GUEST#1: Yes.
PETER (V.O.): During my matriculation years, my only perspective was to study English Literature.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a result, I got stuck. Facing the reality later, I changed to Philosophy and then to Law.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And now, I've even become a HKUST Campus Development Committee Member, working with my architect and engineering colleagues!
END FLASHBACK
INT. HKUST - CONTINUOUS
Feeling a phone vibration, Peter checks an incoming WhatsApp message.
PETER (V.O.): It's from Malcolm, my former HKU law lecturer and a friend now
Peter sees an image with the caption "Extension underway at last".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No one would mind living in a nicer place. My wife and I will check it out in UK in Nov.
Replying, Peter types "I've just attended a Council meeting in HKUST".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me reciprocate with an image as well.
Peter inserts an image he has just examined with the caption "An innovative design in 1992".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Before 1991, only HKU and HKCU had university statuses.
After posting, Peter soon gets a prompt response.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, you and your late wife moved to Silverstrand that year; and you remember HKUST as a "Rolls Royce University"?
Seeing a vacant bench, Peter sits down.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The floating platforms at Silverstrand Bay has become heaven on earth to me.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):In 1992, my family life made a 360 degree turn - a year of hell to me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As to "Rolls Royce University"... I learn that it can take up to 6 months to build a Rolls Royce as nearly every task is done by hand...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, I've been lending a hand in HKUST's governance, and I know elevating HKUST's trajectory further is quite a tall order.
Act 3
INT. HKUST - CONTINUOUS
Peter looks around.
PETER (V.O.): There're 360 degrees. There's no reason I should stick to just a few. I'm expanding mine and trying to influence the University's.
Observing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'd like to think that even bricks and mortar, metals and frames want to be something.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A new perspective of knowledge transfer may reveal unfamiliar dimensions.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life is about perspective too. A different perspective leads to new experiences and possibilities.
Rising, Peter walks towards the car park, taking photos from different perspectives.
