Checking a stock price alert, PETER sees: 0511.HK reached an all time low at 5.32.
PETER (V.O.): Is that right? The Shaw Auditorium at HKUST is opening today!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To show my indirect support, I began buying TVB stocks since mid-October.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): About 20 years ago, the price was over $85 per share, 5 years ago, about $28, and a year ago about $7.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I bought my first lot at $6. Let me buy some today.
Having typed on his smartphone. we soon hear a notification sound: Ding!
Act 2
INT. SHAW AUDITORIUM, HKUST - 15:00
Foyer. As Peter signs his name on a backdrop, a PHOTOGRAPHER takes a shot.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, it reminds me of the days when I was with the Government.
Later, Peter takes a selfie too.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like to have immediate gratification and own the copyright.
Peter chats with COUNCIL MEMBERS#1 and #2.
COUNCIL MEMBER#1: The minimalistic style here is nice. Others might perceive that there isn't much here.
PETER: Making room for more of what matters is challenging.
COUNCIL MEMBER#2: Bamboo acoustic wall panels are used.
PETER: Identify the essential and eliminate the rest.
Later, they go inside the auditorium.
SEQUENCE OF THE OPENING CEREMONY
A. The MCs speak.
B. The CHANCELLOR speaks. Applause.
C. The COUNCIL CHAIR speaks. Applause.
D. The President of HKUST speaks. Big applause.
E. Students' performances. Applause.
F. Intermission. Peter checks that there aren't microphones in the Auditorium.
G. Performance by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The biggest applause.
END SEQUENCE
EXT. CAMPUS., HKUST - 18:30
Walking uphill, Peter looks back at the Shaw Auditorium.
PETER (V.O.): The round-shaped Shaw Auditorium has eye-appeal too, especially when night falls.
INT. SITTING ROOM - 22:15
Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): I learnt from the speeches that Lady Mona supported the project back in 2014.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I had a brief encounter with her in the film premiere over 20 years ago. I was struck by her attention to details.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Her husband Sir Run Run established the the Shaw Prize - the Nobel of the East - in 2002.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He witnessed his legacy as he lived until the age of 107.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's a pity that Lady Mona didn't live to see the opening of the Shaw Auditorium.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, the Shaw's societal impact is felt near and far.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
Peter is typing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If one is to live and leave a legacy, one has to make a distinctive and permanent mark.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): The things one does for oneself are gone when one's gone; but the things one does for others remain one's legacy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm neither a businessman nor a donor. What I can do is just in kind - trying to create something of value in people.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Well, I'll buy another lot of 0511.HK tomorrow. I believe the stock is undervalued.
