INT. STUDY - 20:30
PETER checks selfies he has taken today with his smartphone.
PETER (V.O.): Until today, I've been quite indifferent towards my appearance.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But today, I start to recognize the impact of my appearance has on others and myself.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Looking good isn't confined to the young. An elderly like me can still be looking good.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): However, I need to sustain my self-care practices, leading to my overall well-being and confidence.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
EXT. BEACH - MORNING (Last Week)
Sunny. Having returned from bay waters, Peter feels his face and then grabs his smartphone. We follow Peter to see his image on screen via the rear-facing camera.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, my hair is too long. I should have a haircut.
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - AFTERNOON
Peter, wearing a jacket, sits beside the lady CHAIR. When the meeting ends, a MEMBER approaches Peter.
MEMBER: Peter, your hair is too long. As the Vice-chair, you should cut your hair.
PETER (V.O.): She was my former colleague in Govt...
INT. BARBER SHOP - LATER
As Peter takes the barber chair, the BARBER studies Peter's hair.
BARBER: Too long. Let me give you a fresh look.
Have trimmed and finished with Peter's hair, the Barber takes out a mirror to let Peter see the back side of his hair.
PETER: No need.
PETER (V.O.): I don't care how it looks. I just want to have a haircut.
EXT. ST. STEPHEN'S BAY - 11:15 (Today)
Sunny. Peter uses banana peels as sunblock. Entering bay waters, Peter is about to swim.
PETER (V.O.): I wonder if my shorter hair will help me glide through the waters.
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - 14:15
Appearing, Peter sees the lady Chair and greets her.
CHAIR: Oh Peter, you've cut your hair...
The Chair continues to observe Peter's shorter-hair look.
CHAIR (Cont'd): You look refreshingly different!
PETER (V.O.): OMG, I haven't considered how my change in appearance can affect others' perception of me for a long time.
Wondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At my age, can I still be good-looking?
FLASHBACK UPON FLASHBACK
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - AFTERNOON (Two days ago)
Peter, his SON and son's FIANCEE are checking old photos in albums.
FIANCEE: Uncle Peter, you looked quite handsome when you're young.
Peter smiles.
PETER (V.O.): A newfound appreciation of how I looked over 30 years ago.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S MEMORIES ABOUT HIS LOOKS
A. In front of a long mirror, Peter (15) has his eyes fixed on his reflection. He runs his fingers through his long hair to make a Beatles' look.
B. Leaning closer to the mirror, Peter (16) examines his face, in particular his eyes and nose with a critical look.
C. Lecture room, HKU, 1981. We see two female law STUDENTS observing Peter (27) from the side, and overhear: He looks particularly handsome from this angle...
END MONTAGE & FLASHBACK UPON FLASHBACK
Exhaling a deep breath.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Even if I was a cut above, all good looks fade.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
PETER (V.O.): It's basically my choice to get a haircut.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Without striving for something above the norm, I've somewhat transformed myself naturally.
Instructing his assistant in Photo_CreateE, Peter types on screen: draw an impressionistic colourful drawing entitled "A Cut Above". Within seconds, a colourful image appears.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My journey of self-discovery via "A Cut Above" is an intriguing and memorable one.
