A Good Friday

  1. FADE IN


  2. Act 1


  3. INT. DIINING ROOM - 10:00


  4. PETER, his WIFE, their younger DAUGHTER and the family PET are having breakfast.


  5. PETER (V.O.): My elder son and his girlfriend are on their way to Tokyo.


  6. Checking a WhatsApp photo, Peter sees a smiling couple at the boarding gate.


  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Good for them! I was in bed on this special Friday.


  8. Checking further the photo, Peter discovers something.


  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, their plane will land in Haneda and not in Narita.


  10. Pausing.


  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Even if the entry procedure is time-consuming, there's a good chance my son won't miss his business meeting at Roppongi.


  12. Pausing.


  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Today isn't a public holiday in Japan.


  14. Act 2


  15. INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS


  16. With laptops on table and smartphones in hands, Peter and his wife are researching and discussing.


  17. WIFE: I want to fix the hotel bookings of our first-night-and-last-night stays in Osaka.


  18. PETER: Your hotel choice is good.


  19. WIFE: Somewhow, I can't complete the reservation process...


  20. PETER: Is it too early? We're making Sept bookings.


  21. WIFE: Let me use your laptop and credit card...


  22. Peter passes his laptop and credit card to his wife to work on them.


  23. WIFE: Same. So frustrating!


  24. But Peter sees his wife continuing working on her laptop.


  25. PETER (V.O.): Our recent visit to Osaka was good, but not good enough for my wife. She wanted to shop more.


  26. Pausing.


  27. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): She was so keen that she secured our Sept flights days ago.


  28. Pausing.


  29. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Although we're only going in Sept, the anticipation can't be bad.


  30. Pausing.


  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The longer we wait for something, the more we appreciate it when we get it.


  32. We hear Peter's wife exclaiming: Done!


  33. PETER: Good! How did you overcome the problem?


  34. WIFE: I tried different ways to input the data. Now, we've to decide what hot spring hotels to stay.


  35. Peter shows his wife his findings on phone screen.

  36. PETER: This one looks good.


  37. Peter recalls something.


  38. PETER (Cont'd): Oh, I've actually stayed in this onsen hotel before. It's actually good.


  39. FLASHBACK


  40. EXT/INT ONSEN HOTEL, KADA - SUNSET (2019)


  41. At the seaside, Peter is watching sunset alone.


  42. PETER (V.O.): To learn to enjoy being alone isn't easy.


  43. Later, inside an eating place, Peter is having seafood dishes alone.


  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The food would taste better if my wife is with me.


  45. RETURN TO PRESENT


  46. PETER (Cont'd): But I didn't have a seaview room


  47. WIFE: Okay, let's book a seaview room with a half-board meal plan with this hotel then.


  48. Having done that, we see them surfing booking platforms for other hotels in Osaka.


  49. WIFE: Even the ones we stayed a week ago have been sold out in Sept!


  50. PETER: Let us choose the less popular ones then.

  51. Act 3


  52. INT. DINING ROOM - 20:30


  53. Peter & family are having a seafood dinner.


  54. PETER (V.O.): My son and his girlfriend entered Tokyo smoothly. My wife and I walked our pet. Before dinner, my wife got a new smartphone under insurance.


  55. Pausing.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Good is something that is desirable, beneficial, or of high quality. My preference is good health, and good mind to do good to all.


  57. Pausing.


  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having faith in the good brings love, peace and hope. Today is a good Friday.
