Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 08:30
Waking up, PETER looks out of the window.
PETER (V.O.): No rain? A little sunshine?
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the past few days, everybody talked about the weather.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I told people I'd watch the flag-raising ceremony at HKUST this morning, they warned me that it might rain.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I wanted to support the event as I knew a lot of effort has been put into it.
People looks energized.
Act 2
INT. CAMPUS, HKUST - 10:30
VIP room. A welcoming STAFF presents Peter with a red facemask with the title and logo of HKUST on it.
PETER: I haven't seen a red one before.
STAFF: Just arrived this morning!
PETER (V.O.): Good. It matches with my red tie.
Later at North Gate. PEOPLE holding flags encircle it. Peter and other GUESTS are ushered to stand on marked spots of a red plastic carpet area.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is the first time I participate the flag-raising ceremony at HKUST. It was thought that 11am should be the convenient time.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was with Government, I joined the flag-raising ceremonies at 8.00am.
Peter looks up the sky.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Would the weather remain fine?
FLASHBACK
EXT. TIANANMEN SQUARE, BEIJING - 06:00 (2011)
Led to a spot in close proximity of the flag pole, Peter and his COLLEAGUES wait.
PETER (V.O.): Despite the special arrangement, it's a quite a challenge to rise before the sun.
Peter sees lots of VISITORS outside the restricted area.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As senior civil servants doing a week-long course at the Chinese Academy of Governance, we're privileged.
Upon hearing "Salute to the Flag!", we see a UNIT presenting arms and raising the flag of China.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We honor what we stand for as a peace-loving nation.
As we hear "March of the Volunteers", the flag is being unfurled and raised.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We raise our pride too!
END FLASHBACK
We see the flag-raising ceremony at HKUST beginning and ending. Later, a COUNCIL MEMBER talks to Peter.
COUNCIL MEMBER: Would you be attending the 25th Anniversary social function this evening?
PETER: The one at the Coliseum? Yes, I'm going.
INT. STUDY - 17:15
A special weather tip appears on Peter's smart phone.
PETER (V.O.) : The typhoon #8 signal may be hoisted at 19:10? But I want to attend the social function at 20:00.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Five years ago, when I was invited to attend a similar function, I hesitated, struggling with my retiree status.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Upon reflection, I thought I deserved the invitation as I had contributed to the governance the HKSAR.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So I went. Unexpectedly, I met up with a former colleague who facilitated me to join a set of chambers.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was opportunistic. And now, I've been in private practice for nearly five years, but I've written fewer songs!
Watching TV, Peter sees a notification:...Guests needn't go...the recorded show will be broadcast at 20.00.
.Act 3
NT. SITTING ROOM - 18:00
Peter checks a WhatsApp notification: You've been added into the chat group of HKUST's Standing Committee.
PETER (V.O.): More services to volunteer.
Peter promptly types his response, inserting an image of "Innovative HKUST" and his red HKUST facemask.
INT. BEDROOM - 23:00
Peter is about to sleep.
PETER (V.O.): Irrespective of the weather, for whatever activities I engage in, I create and spread a little sunshine of mine.
Peter turns off the light.
