PETER (V.O.): I've to wait for 3 minutes to get the accurate measurement.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Under the e-COVID-19 Medical Surveillance System, inbound persons have to do that, among other things, for 7 days.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We returned to Hong Kong yesterday - that's Day 0; today's Day 1.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This morning, I reported my negative RAT result to the authority digitally.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So far, I don't have any cough, running nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, myalgia or lost of taste/smell.

FLASHBACK
INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT (June 2022)
Working on a laptop, Peter's WIFE checks the phone calendar.
WIFE: Our younger daughter's graduation ceremony will be held on Nov 7, 2022.
Peter checks his phone calendar.
PETER: Upon our return, we'll have to stay in a quarantine hotel for 7 days.
WIFE: Yes, I've identified a suitable one. Our younger daughter still has an off size art work in England.
PETER: So, the trip isn't just about the congregation.
WIFE: Taking the opportunity, we should tour England again. We haven't travelled together for over 2 years now.
PETER: Yes! Let's do that before and after the ceremony.
WIFE: As usual, we'll hire a car, right?
PETER: Yes, the bigger the better. Last time, we hired an estate and the space was barely enough.
WIFE: It isn't easy to find one though.
Peter's wife continues to surf the web.
INT. FOYER, COUNCIL CHAMBERS, HKUST - DAY (Oct, 2022)
Peter talks to a COLLEAGUE.
PETER: Hong Kong's pandemic control has relaxed somewhat. Have you travelled recently?
COLLEAGUE: Yes, I've been to Mainland China.
PETER: That's pretty safe.
COLLEAGUE: Yes.
PETER: I'm going to England in a fortnight.
COLLEAGUE: All the persons I know of got COVID, upon their return from UK.
PETER: I go to witness my younger daughter's graduation ceremony. I've prepared for the worst - even if I may die!
COLLEAGUE: If I were you, I'd go too.

Sitting in the front passenger seat of a taxi with his wife and their younger DAUGHTER in the back row, Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): Hong Kong is my home. And now, I'm also familiar with Hong Kong's outlying islands. I've my roots here.
EXT. ROADS FROM HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - NIGHT (Nov 13, 2022)
Sitting in the front passenger seat of the same taxi with his wife and daughter in the back row, Peter observes the DRIVER's swift response to a challenge by a high-speeding van.
PETER: Wow, that's a near miss!
DRIVER: I saw from the rear mirror that the van was racing from behind...
PETER: Do you experience such an incident on a daily basis?
DRIVER: No! If it's like that, I'd have quit my job!

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Taking out the digital thermometer from his armpit, Peter reads the measurement and records it in a Form.
PETER (V.O.): Luck is believing one's lucky.
We see the Form caption: Health Monitoring Checklist for Inbound Persons.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For our Nov, 2022 trip to England, I feel so lucky with many good things that happened to us, despite they're beyond our control.
