EXT. HONG KONG PALACE MUSEUM - 17:15
PETER and OTHERS get off a shuttle bus with a label: World IP Day.
PETER (V.O.): We're invited to the same reception but I don't know any of them.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've retired from the job I loved for nearly nine years.
While others go to the entrance, Peter walks towards the promenade.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Registration will only begin at 17:30. Let me explore the place a little.
Peter observes the environment.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What a nice difference!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I first came, it was virgin land. When I was in the vicinity last year, the Museum was still under preparation.
Act 2
INT. 2/F SOUTH ATRIUM - 18:00
Registration desk. STAFF are manning it.
PETER (V.O.): They're all new faces to me.
As Peter gets a drink from the bar at the back, the MC on stage in the front begins to speak. We see on a big screen the images of HKUST and a lady speaking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): OMG, HKUST and President Nancy IP?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Have I gone to another HKUST function?
Soon, the DIRECTOR of IP speaks: It has been four years since we last held the World IP Day reception...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Okay. That's David.
Soon, a SECRETARY speaks.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Secretary is a new face to me.
Peter observes the AUDIENCE not far away from him.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Dan is standing next to a girl...
Peter takes a photo of them from behind.
As a SPEAKER on stage begins to deliver a keynote, GENTLEMAN#1 appears to engage GUESTS not far away from Peter.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's Sam!
Peter waves at Sam.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Earlier, I declined Sam's invitation to his 50th wedding anniversary party as my wife and I happened to be out of town.
Soon, they begin to engage discreetly.
SAM: Are you available on May 18?
Peter checks his phone diary.
PETER: OK! What's up?
SAM: I want you to speak as a panelist on creativity...
When the delivery ends, GENTLEMEN#2, LADIES#1, 2 & 3 approach Peter.
ALL: Mr Cheung...see if you can remember our names?
PETER (V.O.): That's a challenge...
Chatting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I got Harvey, Paula & Belinda right, but got Vivien's name wrong, although I can still remember her surname.
Chatting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I remember she's Ms Luk because when a case she dealt with was appealed, the appeal judge got her surname wrong in the initial judgment.
Later, having talked to GENTLEMAN#3 in depth, Peter notices that GENTLEMAN#4 and LADIES# 4, 5 & 6 waiting nearby.
ALL: Mr Cheung, we've been waiting for you...see if you can remember our names?
PETER: Simpson, Brenda, Joey...
LADY#6: I'm Vivien.
PETER: Yes, Vivien!
Chatting.
PETER: I feel that the older I get, the more important it is to remember people who knew me.
Act 3
EXT. HONG KONG PALACE MUSEUM - 20:15
Peter captures an image of the museum at night.
PETER (V.O.): No lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are sure of each other's worth.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Reunions allow us to pick up right where we left off and make memories that may last a lifetime.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The sweetness and joy of every reunion is a type of heaven.
