In bed, PETER recalls something.
PETER (V.O.): I seem to have got an IP seminar invitation but I haven't responded to it yet.
Peter surfs the web and finds something .
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can see a lot of effort has put into it to fix a 1-day workshop and 2-day conference.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As Zoom meeting has become the norm or alternative, arranging such events has become cost-effective and efficient.
Having done his registrations online, Peter checks his mail inbox.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Ha! The host has just sent me a 3rd Announcement of the events. Is it a coincidence?
Act 2
EXT. GOLDEN BEACH - 12:30
Towing a cyber-green buoy, Peter is swimming under the sun.
PETER (V.O.): When the sun is out, the sea is calm.
Peter swims along the orange buoy line.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Swimming non-stop in deep water, my way of swimming provides an additional safeguard.
Swimming leisurely.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While it's okay for me to swim in a cloudy day, my only fear is possible lightning.
Peter takes a look of the Lantau Peak hiding in the clouds far away.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Two of my matriculation classmates were struck dead there in 1974. They're forever young.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On my way here, I listened to the car radio and heard that a woman passenger of a motorbike was killed in a traffic accident.
Swimming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I won't miss the opportunity to enjoy life while I still can.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 15.00
Sitting room, G/F. Peter turns on the air-conditioner.
PETER (V.O.): It was first installed in 1983 when I bought the premises.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's said that to achieve financial success, one should stick to boring investment.
Peter checks his mail inbox on his smart phone screen.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, I've got papers in my chambers.
Peter then engages in a telephone conversation.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Done! I've got to do something immediately after my court appearance tomorrow.
Peter looks around the files and papers near him.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me continue to declutter.
Picking up a file marked "TRIPS Council Review", Peter reads the contents.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me recreate digitally my diary from Nov 16-21, 1997 in Geneva.
Peter dictates with his smart phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was staying in the Inter-Continental, Geneva.
Peter captures the images of some papers.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hong Kong, China's IP regime was being scrutinized by WTO Members from Nov 17 to 21, 1997 at WTO..
Dictating on his smart phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I had business lunches with officials of WTO, WIPO, China Mission and my colleagues in the Economic & Trade Office in Geneva.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The result: Hong Kong, China's IP regime was WTO-TRIPS compliant as early as 1997.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hong Kong, China, was taking the leadership in WTO, showcasing its readiness to honour its international legal obligations.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): All the personnel in the process have left their positions except one. She has been one of WIPO's DDG.
Having done his dictations, Peter puts all the papers into a garbage bag.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 20:15
Peter has finished a telephone conversation.
PETER (V.O.): It's another professional communication. Today was a busy day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Every event in my life connects to the next. It's all connected.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm glad that I took a little time out of a busy day to enjoy myself at the beach and in my NT home.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've already got through many things in my life. I know what I should be busy about.
