PETER grabs a face mask before leaving.
PETER (V.O.): Wearing face mask isn't compulsory in Hong Kong from today.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The question is: to wear or not to wear.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Optional is good. I once forgot to wear a mask inside a lift.
INT. LIFT LOBBY - CONTINUOUS
Getting out of the lift, Peter sees RESIDENTS wearing masks.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):Nothing has changed. What a surprise!
Peter then puts on his face mask.
Act 2
EXT. CAR PARK - LIFT LOBBY, HKUST - 14:45
Peter is parking his blue MB inside a reserved car park.
PETER (V.O.): I'm a little surprised that I don't see an attendant here today.
Entering a lift, a STAFF greets Peter.
PETER: You come down to find me?
STAFF: Just to ensure everything is fine.
PETER (V.O.): I'm used to the Secretariat's customer-friendly service.
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - 14:55
PARTICIPANTS. Joining Peter on his right, a PROFESSOR takes off his face mask.
PROFESSOR: We don't have to wear face masks today!
Peter also takes off his face mask.
PETER (V.O.): I do that to show we share the same value.
Then, a masked GENTLEMAN joins Peter on his left.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He has no intention to take off his face mask.
Discreetly, Peter puts on his face mask.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Covid is still in the air. I'd continue to protect myself and others.
MONTAGE OF MEETING ACTIVITIES
A. Peter follows the presentations.
B. Peter asks questions. OTHERS respond and Peter remarks.
END MONTAGE
PETER (V.O.): I've added value. I've even shared my wild dream.
Leaving the meeting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Tomorrow, I've another engagement in HKUST.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having been doing voluntary work for HKUST since 2016, I've got used to such hectic schedules.
INT. LIFT LOBBY - 18:00
Peter is checking a WhatsApp message. We see: What proportion of people in the street are daring not to wear mask today?
PETER (V.O.): It's from my English friend who hated wearing a face mask in Hong Kong.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When my family visited England last Nov for 11 days, we didn't wear face masks. It's a miracle that my family didn't get Covid.
Having sent his reply, Peter sees a remark: Habituation.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, it's a form of non-associative learning in which innate response to a stimulus decreases after prolonged presentation of that stimulus.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Would habituation put to sleep the eye of our judgment?
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 21:50
From the radio, we hear the anchor speaking from the radio:...Yes, I went to work wearing a face mask today...the flu season is still around...
PETER (V.O.): I believe excellence is an art that can be learned via alternative habitation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How nice it would be if a knowledge transfer agency in Hong Kong can become a "Unicorn Factory"!
