INT. BEDROOM - 04:30
Sitting against the bed back, PETER taps on his mobile screen from time to time.
PETER (V.O.): Something's happening to my family and my soul is speaking to me in a coaxing manner.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hours ago, I find that decluttering digital rubbish is a good way for me to make adaptive changes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For today, I can afford to stay up late.
Enters his WIFE.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me also have a feel how my wife can cope with sleeping about 4 hours during week days.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We both treasure our time and make the most of it - in different ways.
Act 2
INT. STUDY - 09:05
Reports from TV. Songs from mobile. Peter is lying on a sofa, restlessly.
PETER (V.O.):I haven't slept enough and may not be alert. For safety sake, I won't drive and would only do something gentle.
Peter then hears easy-listening music.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Ah, I've heard this sweet tune before; but I don't know its title.
Peter gets up to check the information on the mobile screen. We see: Raymond Lefevre - Soul Coaxing (Ame Caline) (1968).
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What exactly is the title of this soothing instrumental music?
Peter surfs the web with another mobile.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Raymond Lefevre is a French conductor. Soul Coaxing is the English translation of the French title Ame Caline.
After Peter's taping an icon, we hear the music of Ame Caline again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The climax begins at the beginning. But the melody loses traction in the Chorus. Who's the composer?
Peter researches again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was written in 1967 by a French Singer/Songwriter Micel Polnareff. I don't know about him.
Having typed the music title and the author name on his mobile, Peter sees moving images.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, there's a black-and-white music video of his song.
We see on screen the author's lip-syn performance: https://youtu.be/twLgO0PPSvg
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He looks talented. His soprano Chorus takes the song to the next level.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In late 1967, I was a Form 2 student, not knowing a word of French and hadn't thought about writing any song yet.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Have I got inspiration to write one now?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At least, I need to decorate my soul first.
A TV banner says: Remains of troops killed in Kabul Attack arrive in US.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I've learned earlier that some were on their first and last assignments.
INT. LAW LIBRARY, HKU - 16:45
Sitting in a chair, Peter reads a book Pleading Without Tears.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Before my wife and I had our last daughter, we anticipated the kind of soulful burden we had to bear.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I belong to the old school. I've reasonable doubts about her future well-being.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): Am I pleading without tears, literally? And to whom?
Act 3
EXT. ESTATE SWIMMING POOL - 20:20
Peter's swimming butterfly style.
PETER (V.O.): I feel my soul is being attacked. I'm trying to escape, even from myself.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
PETER (V.O.): Everyone has his/her own soulful burden to bear.
We hear Andy Williams singing: Don't get used to losing you.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Have I come to terms with what's happenings?
Peter listens to Ame Caline (Soul Coaxing) again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, I won't let it be. I'll respond to the risk.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My soul is speaking to me in a coaxing manner to help her turnaround.
FADE OUT.
