Act 1
INT. STUDY - 10:00
Putting aside a book on philosophy, PETER has screen time.
PETER (V.O.): It seems that today's stock market is bullish. Should I buy more stocks?
Having done an order, Peter resumes reading philosophy.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Interpretation is the key to many subject matters, from law and literary works to music and arts.
Hearing Ding! Peter checks the message.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, the order has been fully executed. Perhaps, the fundamental of the stock isn't good.
Peter amends some particulars of his e-entrepreneurial fund.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm learning to take risk. If I don't invest, I get nil return on dividend or interest.
It's 12:45. Peter has finished reading the book
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's legal scholarship, from the philosophical perspective.
Act 2
EXT. RESTAURANT - 13:15
At a takeaway corner, Peter waits with a chit in hand.
PETER (V.O.): I've ordered clay pot rice; and I won't return the clay pot this time.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I find anything cooked with a traditional clay pot is more tasteful than modern earthenware.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the 1970s, my Dad would boil sweet potato tong shui with a traditional clay pot after work. We enjoyed that.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): For the past weeks, I've asked our maid to boil the same, but something was missing.
As a number is called, Peter surrenders the chit to get a nicely-packed clay pot rice set.
INT. KITCHEN - 14:00
Peter is enjoying the clay pot rice.
PETER (V.O.): Delicious, especially in a cold day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm also a shareholder of the restaurant chain. Recently, the company has distributed dividends.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I invest in it as I like its customer-friendly services.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But in total, I've only negative gain so far.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Years ago, I was advised to buy some Australian dollars. The idle money hasn't got any interest.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me revert them into Hong Kong dollars and buy stocks that distribute dividends.
INT. BANK - 15:15
Leaving a counter, Peter looks pleased.
PETER (V.O.): The teller told me that the exchange rate was better if I did it online myself.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But my online access was suspended as I gave wrong answers to security questions time and again.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Incidentally, I'm also a shareholder of the bank. Its stock performance is getting better. But I've only got one lot when the price was right.
INT. MALL - 16:00
Window-shopping, Peter checks Yahoo!Finance.
PETER (V.O.): Wow, the Hang Seng Index today has risen 663 points or +2.79%! Let me celebrate.
Entering one stall, Peter presents his Sony smartphone. A Staff replaces its screen protector and then inserts it in a new transparent cover.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Good that I've contributed to the GDP, however small it is.
Getting back his smartphone, Peter checks his entrepreneurial fund.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd):My day's gain is 1.91%. I interpret that to mean that I haven't invested in the right stocks. My total gain is still negative.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 20:00
Peter is watching TV breaking news with the subtitles: UK PM apologises for lockdown party. We hear: We should have done things differently...
PETER (V.O.): After the fact, they interpret the rules reflectively.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While the party was over, the politics haven't. In hindsight, they're unwise.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): An investment in knowledge and integrity pays the best interest or dividends.
Putting his smartphone on a book, Peter captures an image of it.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's artistic - my interpretation and investment.
THE END.
