Dressed in a 3-piece suit PETER is checking his brief case.
PETER (V.O.): Today is the 6th day of the Chinese New Year and I start working.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Actually, I'm not keen about my professional work.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I only look forward to rewarding myself after doing it.
DAY DREAMING SEQUENCE
A. Cha Chaan Teng, Ma Tau Kok. A plate of fried vermicelli with sliced beef, peppers and black beans is put on the table.
B. Peter can't wait to sample it and then takes a look of another side of the fried vermicelli.
END DAYDREAM SEQUNCE
Act 2
MONTAGE OF PETER'S PROFESSIONAL WORK
A. Interview room. Assisted by INTERPRETER#1, Peter is talking to a WOMAN.
B. Interview room. An OFFICER, with a laptop and a portable printer by her side, is interviewing the woman with the help of INTERPRETER#2 in the presence of Peter.
END MONTAGE
INT. INTERVIEW ROOM, MA TAU KOK - 10.15
As the officer is printing files, she spots a problem.
OFFICER: No ink! Well, I've brought a spare ink cartridge.
PETER (V.O.): The officer is very well prepared.
Peter then notices the officer having another problem with the printer.
OFFICER: I don't know how to replace the cartridge...
Peter offers his helping hand.
PETER (V.O.): That's another side of the officer.
Later, when they're about to part, interpreter#2 talks to Peter in Indonesian.
INTERPETER#2: OMG, I've spoken too much Indonesian just then and I'm speaking Indonesian to you!
PETER: No problem. I wish to learn some Indonesian. I've researched on the Indonesian song "Bengawan Solo".
Interpreter#2 is taken by surprise.
PETER (Cont'd): I'm also a singer-songwriter.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): I want to find out how the song was created and why it's so popular in Asia.
Peter shows an image on his phone screen to interpreter#2. We see a man's image and the name "Gesang".
PETER (Cont'd): Gesang wrote the song "Bengawan Solo" in 1940 at the age of 23...How to pronounce his name?
INT. CHA CHAAN TENG - 11:30
Peter is enjoying a plate of fried vermicelli with sliced beef, peppers and black beans.
PETER (V.O.): If the venue of my assignment wasn't changed from Castle Peak to Ma Tau Kok, I won't be here today.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But detainees in the Ma Tau Kok center might not be able to enjoy the outdoor sunshine.
As Peter checks another side of the fried vermicelli, we see some half-burnt vermicelli.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They're crispy and I love that. Furthermore...
FLASHBACK
INT. CASTLE PEAK HOTEL - DAY (1970)
At a corner, Peter (16) in a waiter outfit, is enjoying a plate of fried of vermicelli with sliced beef, peppers and black beans.
PETER (V.O.): I like flat noodles but staff can only order vermicelli as few customers would order vermicelli.
Eating.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like the half-burnt crispy part.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm reliving the past too.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:00
Peter is working on a laptop.
PETER (V.O.): There's a side of me that likes engagement. There's another side of me that likes to be alone.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At my age now, I just like to write and publish what I want to say or sing.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There is always another side of anything, always.
