FADE IN
Act 1
EXT. TUEN MUN HIGHWAY - 12:45
Sunny, PETER is driving in the fast lane.
PETER (V.O.): I waste no time to go to the beach.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The last time I went was Dec 30 2021, just before the 5th wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong.
Peter steps deeper on the accelerator.
PETER (V.O.): I don't have to jog if I can swim.
Traffic jams ahead.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Are people rushing to the beach like me?
Peter then sees temporary roadwork traffic lights.
Act 2
EXT. GOLDEN BEACH - 13:30
Legs submerged in water, Peter is unentangling his cyber-green tow float.
PETER (V.O.): It has been staying idle for months.
Having secured the float around his waist, Peter begins to swim breaststrokes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The water is clear, the sea is calm.
Peter swims towards the outer limit of swimming area.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I feel relaxed and comfortable.
Reaching the outer limit, Peter looks back at the beach.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's quite far away. Oh yes, it's high tide.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As it's the first time I swim this year, should I swim shorter distance than I used to do?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, today is like liberation day. I should do a victory lap!
Peter begins to swim along the orange buoy line parallel to the beach.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The life guards at the beach towers must be happy to spot me returning when they resume duty.
Reaching the other end, Peter changes to swim freestyle along the orange buoy line perpendicular to the beach.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is my safety measure. Just in case.
When he is quite near to the shoreline, Peter makes a turn and swims back to his starting point.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh I'm swimming against the current. It's hard.
Struggling somewhat, Peter presses on.
EXT. LAKESIDE - 14:30
Strolling along the lakeside walk, Peter captures photos of pigeons nearby.
PETER (V.O.): I always envy them. They carry no baggage and can fly if they like.
The pigeons on the walk behave like any passersby.
INT. RESTAURANT - 15:00
Arriving, a STAFF greets Peter at the door.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, I haven't seen her for months.
Seated in a cosy corner, Peter does his order.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How nice it is to be back!
Later, fried fish and ice coffee are put on the table.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Simple but nice. I haven't had them for months.
Squeezing a slice of lemon, the juice spills on Peter's new pair of glasses.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): OMG! Would the lemon juice damage the coating?
Peter picks an ice cube from the ice coffee and applies it on the glasses.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No idea about any lemon-coffee chemical reaction. I damaged my previous pair in a similar situation.
Peter cleans his glasses with a napkin.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 16:00
Bathroom. Peter is washing his glasses in the sink.
PETER (V.O.): Just hope that it isn't too late.
Act 3
EXT. TOLO HIGHWAY- 20:00
The car speedometer indicates 100km/hr.
PETER (V.O.): Within every form of restriction lies the seeds of wanting to be free.
Peter stretches his neck clockwise and anti-clockwise.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Today is quite an empowering day, although I feel pretty tired.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Being free, I exist as I'm. I don't have to prove anything.
