  4. Tapping What's App, PETER sees an image of an adorable couple in front of a Georgian architecture with the subtitle "Hot Day in Cambridge".


  5. PETER (V.O.): It's from my friend of 40 years.


  6. Checking the sending time of the photo, Peter sees 3.30am


  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's 8:30 pm UK time. They might be having desserts.


  8. Peter types his reply on screen.


  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The last time I visited UK was summer 2019.


  10. Inserting a photo of an estate under the grey sky, Peter types on screen "A typhoon has come and gone".


  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If one has experienced typhoons for 40 years, would one miss them?


  12. Peter takes a look of the files around him.


  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've a professional task to do. I don't want to spoil anybody's weekend.

  17. B. Peter types on his laptop.

  20. E. A wall clock indicates: 1:30pm.

  22. PETER (V.O.) : Done! I've earned my lunch.


  23. EXT. ESTATE PARK - 14:00


  24. Blue sky and green trees. Jogging along a track, Peter stops to capture a photo.


  25. PETER (V.O.): I jog here nearly everyday. And I always see something different.


  26. INT. MALL RESTAURANT - 14:15


  27. Enjoying a noodle set, Peter takes a look of CUSTOMERS eating near him.


  28. PETER (V.O.): I believe the eating-in restrictions will be tightened again.


  29. Pausing.


  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If Hong Kong isn't seeking herd immunity, public service may also be affected.


  31. Pausing.


  32. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've to renew the licences of two cars within weeks; or I'll have to re-do the car-worthiness testing again.

  34. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Car management is a lot of work and I've been doing these myself for over 20 years.

  36. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): What if I get COVID?


  37. Recalling.


  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My friend parted his cars just days before returning to UK for good.


  39. Recalling.


  40. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): We had a casual farewell meal before that.


  41. Recalling.


  42. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's been over a year now. Good to know my learned friend is enjoying life with his pretty wife.


  43. Pausing.


  44. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I knew he was attached to Oxford. I suppose they're visiting Cambridge for a change.


  45. Recalling.


  46. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): What connected us initially was HKU. In 1982, he was a young law lecturer and I was a mature student.


  47. Recalling.


  48. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Then one thing leads to another.


  49. Pausing.


  50. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): He remains academic. But I've no more mandate to do legal policy.

  52. INT. STUDY - 19:00


  53. Looking at the 2023 car licence labels beside him, Peter looks pleased.

  54. PETER (V.O.): Having done little tasks timely, I feel merry as if my soul is refreshed.

  55. Tapping What's App, Peter sees his friend's photo again.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Despite the distance, true friends are never apart in heart.


  57. Pausing.


  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And a sweet friendship can't be blown away by typhoons.
