Act 1
Exiting, PETER speaks to his WIFE and their younger DAUGHTER.
PETER: I'm going to the car park to drive up the Previa.
INT. CAR PARK - LATER
Arriving at his lot, Peter presses the remote control for the Previa.
PETER (V.O.): No response?
Having checked the battery light of the remote control, Peter tries again and then uses another remote control.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The result is the same. What's wrong?
Opening the car door manually, Peter realizes the car has no electricity.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): That's strange...We drove it yesterday. Meanwhile, we can drive another car.
Act 2
EXT. ROADS - LATER
A New Beetle. Peter is at the back seat while his WIFE in the front passenger seat. Their younger daughter is driving.
PETER (V.O): Her licence is new. She needs more road experience.
Peter and his wife are quite busy in checking road conditions.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As this is a small car, she should be able to maneuver Megabox's winding access road to the car parks.
INT. MEGABOX - LATER
IKEA & Nitori. His wife and daughter window-shop. Peter buys one small item from each store.
DAUGHTER: You've similar stuff at home.
WIFE: You bought a similar item in Korea last month.
Coco Curry House. When courses are presented to them, Peter takes photos of them.
PETER: My reviews of places on Google Maps are quite popular. And our elder daughter's finance is one of my followers.
Writing his reviews on his mobile screen and adding the photos, Peter posts them.
PETER (Cont'd): That's my way to get connected with him online everyday.
WIFE: BTW, we've to finish our meal quick. Our property agent in Japan will make a video call soon.
INT. CAR PARK - 15:45
Having jump-started his Previa, Peter gets inside the car to check the lamp controls.
PETER (V.O): They're all off.
From the rear mirror view, Peter then sees tail light reflections.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Neither have I turned on the side lights nor have I stepped on the brakes. Something has got stuck...
Via a video call, Peter's wife and daughter have finished discussing with the Japanese agent.
INTERCUT WITH:
INT. CAR REPAIRER - 16:00
Peter takes delivery of his repaired Nissan 200SX, leaving the Previa behind.
INT. STUDY - LATER
Following Peter to watch an online video clip about a heartwarming dog sharing food with her master, we become teary-eyed.
PETER (V.O): This video is so touching. My family should watch it.
Coping the link, Peter shares the clip in the family's chatgroup.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Oh yes, I'd address my wife's complaints that I don't respond to her calls.
Peter opens the control center of his mobile and sees the "Do not disturb" button is on.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): OMG! I don't even know there's such a function.
Having turned off the "Do not disturb" function, Peter uses another mobile to make a test call. As there's no ringing tone, Peter attempts to use a fixed line electric phone.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It has no dialing tone. I haven't used it for ages.
Peter checks the Volume setting of his mobile.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): No issue at all. What's wrong? Silent mode?
Checking the Silent Mode key on the side, Peter looks shocked.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Oh dear, I've forgotten when did I turn it On...How about the fixed line electric phone?
Peter then discovers the phone isn't connected to any electric socket.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 23:00
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Cars, Calls & Connections" to a text.
PETER (V.O): It's always important to think outside the box and find alternative solutions when faced with obstacles.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Paying more attention to details, the solutions to problems can be right in front of me.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Intentionally, I do take the time to connect emotionally and create meaningful experiences with my loved ones and all.
