  5. PETER wakes up, rubbing his eyes, and glancing at the clock.

  7. PETER (V.O): I've to moderate a workshop session on intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in the afternoon.


  8. Sitting up in bed, he researches with his mobile.

  9.  

  10. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I was concerned about Hong Kong's IP protection of Folkore and the international IP protection of Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions.


  11. Thinking.


  12. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): IP is basically economic while ICH is cultural.


  13. Researching.

  15. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): What exactly is Teochew Kungfu Dance?...It's ICH of Hong Kong, China and Mainland China.

  17. Checking a brochure.


  18. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The workshop explores a possible joint nomination between China and Thailand to UNESCO to inscribe the Teochew Kungfu Dance as a UNESCO ICH.

  22. In a 3-piece suit, Peter hesitates at the entrance.


  23. PETER (V.O): I know now is the voluntary makeup time.

  24.  

  25. Pausing.

  26.  

  27. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): For Teochew Kungfu dancers, they do the makeup themselves.


  28. Envisaging.


  29. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): But I've never done any makeup, not to mention doing a makeup with intricate design and vibrant colours.


  30. Imagining.


  31. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'd look more like a clown than a moderator...Anyhow...

  33. Entering, Peter sees a crowded venue. NICKY approaches him.


  34. NICKY: Would you do the makeup?


  35. PETER: Yes.

  36.  

  37. Then, a makeup ARTIST carefully applies a traditional Teochew Kungfu Dance design on Peter's forehead.


  38. PETER (V.O): Good, I don't have to do it myself...and it's on the forehead only.

  39.  

  40. The artist continues his brushstrokes.


  41. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I can see the artist is focused and skilled.


  42. A PHOTOGRAPHER captures the moment. Peter is then seated next to YAO, the workshop organizer.


  43. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'd better do a selfie to document my Teochew-Kungfu-dancer look.


  44. Then, YAO introduces Peter to ORGANIZERS#1-3 of Thailand, Yuen Long, Mainland Chinese Teochew Kungfu dancing teams. Later, Peter starts a small talk with a PROFESSOR.


  45. PETER: And you're...


  46. PROFESSOR: I'm a Professor...In a BIP Asia Forum years ago, you played the guitar...


  47. PETER (V.O.): Only I'd play the guitar and sing to welcome participants.


  48. MONTAGE OF THE WORKSHOP ON INHERITANCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF YINGGE DANCE


  49. A. Session 1. Yao moderates. Dr CHAN tells the background stories. Organsers#1-2 talk about their current activities.


  50. B. Session 2. Peter moderates. The Professor speaks about the UNESCO nomination procedures. On screen, a Malaysian speaker tells a sucess story of a joint nomination between China and Malaysia.


  51. C. Discussion time. Peter encourages the Organisers to collaborate to bring about a joint nomination between China and Thailand of the Teochew Kungfu Dance to be inscribed a UNESCO ICH.


  52. D .Session 3. CARMEN moderates. Director Zheng shows a documentary of Teochew Kungfu Dance, demonstrating pride and belonging. Creator Zhu shows an animation, highlighting his new media effort to market Teochew Kungfu Dance.


  53. END MONTAGE


  54. The workshop ends. As Peter is about to leave, Director Zheng approaches him.


  55. ZHENG: Would you do a media interview for us?


  56. PETER: Sure.


  57. PETER (V.O): Yes, he and his team are doing documentaries.


  58. We see Peter responding to Zheng's questions at length.


  59. EXT. STREETS OF HONG KONG - 18:00


  60. Walking towards Tung Wah Hospital, Peter is in thoughts.


  61. PETER (V.O): I haven't done media interview for a long time...I don't think I've got many soundbites in my answers.


  62. Act 3

  64. INT. BEDROOM - 23:00

  65.  

  66. Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled: "Choreographing Change...." to a draft in his laptop.


  67. PETER (V.O): Choreographing is a creative and artistic process; change signifies progress and transformation.

  68.  

  69. On his mobile screen, we see a picture-in-picture frame: Peter holds up a photo of himself while a makeup artist applies a design on his forehead.

  70.  

  71. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Intentional change can be initiated by individuals or orchestrated by communities. With teamwork and collaboration, all can play a role to shape their cultural future.
