Act 1
INT. LIVING ROOM - 08:45
As PETER scrolls through his Facebook feed, a video clip catches his eye.
PETER (V.O.): The music and lyrics of the song " Be Together, Rain or Shine" is resonant. I know the famous Cantonese lyricist, but who is the composer?
After conducting his research onlne, Peter reviews the results.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The composer is Tsutsumi Kyohei, a prolific but a relatively low-profile composer and music producer
As Peter watches a video clip of a family cycling together and overcoming obstacles along their journey, the original Japanese version of the song plays in the background.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Japanese subtitles feel less foreign to me now as I've been learning foreign languages via Duolingo.
When the video ends, Peter decides to watch it again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The drama series was filmed in 1974 when I was 20 years old. Even now, I still feel the strong emotional impact from its scenes.
After finishing the video, Peter copies the link.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm eager to share it with my family members.
Act 2
INT. SAIZERIYA - 13:15
Peter is having Meat Doria.
PETER (V.O.): Before I went swimming this morning, I've downloaded Alibaba's Tongyi and tested it a few times.
Smiling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's amusing that Tongyi's responses in English sometimes include Chinese as well.
Eating garlic bread.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't mind at all, since I'm bilingual.
Peter taps the Tongyi logo on his smartphone screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me see if it can compose the lyrics of a song in Putonghua, English, and especially in conversational Cantonese.
After typing his prompts, Peter reviews the response, paying particular attention to the part on conversational Cantonese.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, Cantonese don't speak like that
Smiling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While AI can be helpful, the human touch in any creative work is essential.
INT. THEATRE, HK CITY HALL - 19:45
Full house. Peter and his WIFE are seated in the AUDIENCE. With piano accompaniment, PATRICK is singing in German on stage.
PETER (V.O.): He's singing "Wigmung" by Robert Schumann and "Nacht und Traume" by Franz Schubert.
Watching the performance attentively.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've been learning German for over 300 days, yet I still can't grasp what he's singing, though there's no doubt he's a talented vocalist.
When the MC reappears, we hear him mentioning a QR code on the concert brochure.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On yes, I can find the original lyrics through it.
When other PERFORMERS sing "Barcarolle", and "Deh vieni non tardar", Peter checks the lyrics.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can somewhat follow the French and Spanish lyrics.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Am I correct in thinking that singing in a foreign language is relatively easier than speaking it?
Then we hear the performers singing in English and Putonghua.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can hear the English lyrics clearly, but I can catch very few Putonghua lyrics. Should I re-learn Putonghua?
Peter checks the concert programme.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Of the seven languages I've been learning, only Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean songs aren't included in the programme.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For my original trilingual songs, one has some Korean lyrics. I learn Korean for family reasons.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I followed a Japanese song this morning. Have I made a wrong decision to learn Portuguese?
Later, the melodic evening comes to an end.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having heard the cover version of the song "La vie en rose" live, I've got inspiration to learn to play it well on piano.
Peter checks the time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's about 21:30. I still have time to write my daily short screenplay, making the most of each day.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 22:30
Peter inserts an AI drawing titled: "Everyday Euphoria..." to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O): I won't take every day for granted. I cherish every day as the day it is, for in its simplicity lies the key to unlocking the life of everday euphoria.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Everyday euphoria isn't about changing the world, but about how I see it, for it's in the ordinary that the extraordinary lies waiting to be discovered.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Everyday euphoria springs from the peace in my heart, where contentment and joy thrive amid the chaos around me.
