"Everyone's Birthday"

  3. INT. BEDROOM - 9:15


  4. PETER gets out of bed.


  5. PETER (V.O.): Today is the 7th day of the Chinese New Year or "Everyone's Birthday".


  6. KAJI, the family pet, is staring at Peter.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): She's urging me to buy breakfast for both of us.


  8. Pausing.


  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My main agenda today is to have my 4th Covid jab.


  10. Pausing.


  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'll heed my family's advice that I shouldn't do exercises after that.


  12. Peter begins to do his push-ups energetically.


  13. Act 2


  14. INT. SITTING ROOM - 10:15


  15. Smart phone in hand, Peter checks YouTube video clips.


  16. PETER (V.O.): Years ago, I wrote a song on "The 7th Day of Chinese New Year" or "Everyone's Birthday".


  17. Having found the video clip, Peter listens to it. We see scenic moments, in addition to Peter's singing.


  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The footage was taken in various places in Hong Kong, Japan and KL.


  19. Pausing.


  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The lyrics of the song are evergreen. They highlight the insight of my struggle.


  21. Copying the link, Peter shares his MV in FB and other chatgroups.


  22. INT. UNDERGROUND CAR PARK - 14:00


  23. Standing close to his numeric blue SMART, Peter takes out from his bag a roll of plastic tapes and a pair of scissors.


  24. PETER (V.O.): I bought this car 20 years ago. Recently, its fixed antenna mast came loose and I fixed it.


  25. Cutting some tapes, Peter wraps them around the antenna socket.


  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Days ago when I was driving it on the highway, I thought it was blown away by the headwind.


  27. Pausing.


  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Fortunately, I was wrong. But I'd better reinforce the antenna mast with the socket, while I still can.


  29. Peter looks pleased with his work.


  30. INT. COMMUNITY VACCINATION CENTRE - 15:30


  31. Clean, bright and orderly environment. STAFF greet CLIENTS including Peter, nearly every step of their way.


  32. PETER (V.O.): The staff-to-client ratio is low.


  33. We hear staff talking to each other: Few people come up on "Everyone's Birthday".


  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I chose Saturday afternoon to ensure it wouldn't conflict with my work schedule and my family time.


  35. Peter is soon directed to a booth.


  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I don't feel well after the vaccination, I've the Sunday to rest.


  37. After answering some questions from the NURSE, Peter takes the jab.


  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My 4th jab experience should be instructive to my wife, who will take hers in early Feb.


  39. Soon, Peter is directed to a resting area.


  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although resting is optional now, I prefer to play safe.


  41. Pausing.


  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd: My wife and I had trips to UK and Seoul. It was fortunate that we didn't get Covid.


  43. Later, Peter leaves.


  44. INT. BEDROOM - 18:00


  45. Resting in bed with a pair of portable bluetooth speakers nearby, Peter is listening to stereo oldies. We hear: ...This is Apple-Fm...


  46. PETER (V.O.): How nice it is to have a lazy afternoon like this!


  47. Peter feels his injection spot.


  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's a little discomfort.


  49. Pausing.


  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I haven't had the Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA 4-5 dose before. I just hope that I won't have much adverse effects.


  51. Act 3


  52. INT. STUDY - 22:00


  53. Peter is working on a laptop.


  54. PETER (V.O.): At nightfall, my wife and I walked Kaji at the promenade. There was a music fountain show and I took it as a celebration of "Everyone's Birthday".


  55. Peter checks the images on his smart phone.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My 4th jab seems to have injected a new spirit in me. I'm thinking if I should resume my monthly travelling hobby.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The more we celebrate life, the more there is in life to celebrate!
