Finding Bliss

  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. LIVING ROOM - 10:30

  4. Cosy. Sitting on a sofa, Peter is having screen time aimlessly.

  5. PETER (V.O.): My schedule today has been made simple.

  6. Peter looks at KAJI, the family pet, at his knee.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I'm the only one who can be home for a greater part of the day, my wife asked me to keep our pet company.

  8. Reading the script "La La Land" on screen.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Later today, I'll attend a medical appointment before returning to my chambers.

  10. Scrolling down.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh yes, I mustn't forget to play the piano and swim.

  12. Repeating.

  13. PETER (V.O.): Only the opening scene is captivating. Let me re-read the "Forrest Gump" script.

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

  16. Typing "Forrest Gump script" in the Chrome search bar, we see the script appearing on screen.

  17. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Forrest Gump" is my favourite movie. It has the elements of comedy, romance, drama and even historical epic.

  18. We read: A feather floats through the air...The feather drops down towards the street below...The feather floats under a passing car...the feature floats above the ground...

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is the falling feather.

  20. Reading.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Its non-linear narrative structure allows the story to unfold in a way that is both engaging and unpredictable.

  22. We follow Peter to read the dialogues among Forrest Gump, John Lennon and a show anchor:

  23. Well, in the land of China, people hardly got nothing at all.

  24. No possessions?

  25. And in China, they never go to church.

  26. No religion, too?

  27. Oh. Hard to imagine.

  28. Well, it's easy if you try...

  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One should find these exchanges witty if one knows the lyrics of the John Lennon song "Imagine".

  30. Seeing a WhatsApp message from his wife, Peter responds instantaneously.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife has done something that makes my life easier. I appreciate that.

  32. Hearing his son calling, Peter begins to engage in a conversation.

  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Like father like son - in the positive sense.

  34. We continue to read the script until the very end: ...a gust of wind picks the feather up. The feather floats up into the air...The feather soars up into the sky...

  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No wonder, the script won an Oscar.

  36. Pausing.

  37. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Immersing in the story again, I find bliss in the simple literary pleasure the script offers.

  38. MONTGAGE OF PETER'S SUBSEQUENT ACTIVITIES

  39. A. Restaurant. Peter has a quick afternoon tea set.

  40. B. Studio. Peter plays the piano for a short while.

  41. C. Clinic. Peter consults a DOCTOR and a NURSE.

  42. D. Chambers. Peter speaks to SCRETARIES#1 & 2

  43. E. Swimming Pool. Peter swims in different styles.

  44. END MONTAGE

  45. INT. DINING ROOM - 21:00

  46. A wet-haired Peter sees his WIFE putting food on the table.

  47. PETER (V.O.): Having worked for over 10 hours, she'd take good care of our dinner.

  48. Joining his wife and their younger DAUGHTER.

  49. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife prioritizes on what truly matters.

  50. Enjoying the family dinner.

  51. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I find gratitude in the small things.

  52. Reflecting.

  53. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I used to think that happiness is something to be pursued in the distant future or tied to achieving specific goals.

  54. Thinking.

  55. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now, I've learned to shift my focus from external achievements to the appreciation of the present moment.

  56. Act 3

  57. INT. LIVING ROOM - 21:30

  58. Having input the prompt: "Finding Bliss" in an AI art generator in his smartphone, Peter sees a cubist image appearing.

  59. PETER (V.O.): Finding bliss is to embrace simplicity and cultivate contentment.

  60. We hear easy-listening music.

  61. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's an ongoing process like a collection of stories or experience, rather than a singular event.

  62. Reflecting

  63. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Finding my bliss from within, I feel raw, real and creatively rich.

  64. Having drafted a blogpost, Peter begins to write his diary on screen.

  65. FADE OUT

  66. THE END
