  2. Act 1


  3. INT. RESTAURANT - 14:00


  4. PETER and his WIFE are seated.


  5. PETER (V.O.): How nice it is to have lunch with my wife on a Tuesday.


  6. Having read the menu, they do their orders.


  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The last time we visited Taiwan was Spring 2019...


  8. Rice, noodles, snacks and drinks are being served.


  9. PETER: Wow, they look good.


  10. WIFE: They're pricey too.

  11. Peter samples the food and drinks.


  12. PETER: High quality, as expected.


  13. Act 2


  14. FLASHBACK


  15. INT. RESTAURANT, TAI-TIONG - DAY (2015)


  16. Together with other TOURISTS, Peter buys a cup of Bubble Milk Tea.

  17. PETER (V.O.): I am not keen on the tea. Since here is said to be its origin, I just act like a been-there-done-that tourist.


  18. Drinking.


  19. PETER (Cont'd): It tastes normal. I don't know what to expect actually.


  20. INT. RESTAURANT. TAIPEI - DAY (2019)


  21. Peter and his wife are sharing some minced pork rice with soy sauce.


  22. PETER: It looks different from the one we had in Wulai hot spring district.


  23. WIFE: The flavours vary from place to place.


  24. INT. HOT-STAR STORE, HONG KONG - DAY (2021)


  25. Peter buys some chicken cutlets to take away.


  26. PETER (V.O.): They're as yummy as those my family had in the chain's main store in Shilin district.


  27. RETURN TO PRESENT


  28. Peter then takes a closer look of a drink coaster.


  29. PETER (V.O.): 春水 (Spring Flood)...


  30. Peter tries to remember something.


  31. PETER: There's a famous poetic phrase on that...


  32. WIFE: It's 恰似一江春水向東流 (As much as the Spring flood flowing East).


  33. PETER: Oh yes, it's the closing image.


  34. PETER: What's the phrase before that?


  35. As they try to remember, Peter seeks assistance from his smartphone.


  36. PETER (Cont'd):It's 問君能有幾多愁? (How much sorrow can one has?)


  37. Pausing.


  38. PETER(Cont'd): Can you remember the name of the author?


  39. WIFE: He's Li Yu, the poet-King of Southern Tang - during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.


  40. PETER: Oh, I don't know about that.


  41. Checking.

  42. PETER (Cont'd): Oh, Li Yu was the last King of Southern Tang. He surrendered to his Song conqueror.


  43. Peter recites the poet-King's other poetic phrases enthusiastically.


  44. PETER (Cont'd): Aren't they beautiful?


  45. WIFE: He was a scholar, but useless in arms.

  46. PETER: Oh, I recall there's an idiom on that too!


  47. Peter surfs the web again.


  48. PETER (Cont'd): Oh yes! It's 百無一用是書生 (Scholars are absolutely useless).


  49. Recalling.


  50. PETER (V.O.): Oh 書生 (Scholars) ! When I was young, I wanted to become one.


  51. Act 3


  52. INT. RESTAURANT - 14:30


  53. Finishing his Red Bean Bubble Tea, Peter is in thoughts.


  54. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the poet-King's ink lasts much longer than any martyrs' blood.


  55. Pausing.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Li's literary works done over 1000 years ago are still being learned.


  57. Thinking.


  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He has left a great literary legacy - China's treasure actually.


  59. THE END.
