INT. BED ROOM - 12:30
PETER is having screen time. His WIFE is waking up.
PETER (V.O.): Today is Good Friday.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Before the pandemic, my wife and I would seize the Easter holidays to travel overseas.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Like 2020 and 2021, there's nowhere we can travel now.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If today is to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, why is it good?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Friday today should be black, if not bad.
Act 2
INT. DINING ROOM - 13:00
Peter, his wife and KAJI, the family pet, sit at the three sides of a table.
PETER (to Kaji): Good dog! Guarding the food diligently.
WIFE: Not good! She's just forever hungry.
PETER (V.O.): It's our pet's third meal today, mine, the second, and my wife, the first.
As Peter and his wife pass bits of pancakes to her, Kaji reacts with a smiling face.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Good vibes lead to good life.
EXT. PET GARDEN/STREETS - 17:00
Kaji leads Peter and his wife to the garden.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, many new faces - pets and their masters.
Kaji greets her FRIENDS with enthusiasm.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh yes, today's a public holiday.
The pets are playing with each other.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Good Friday can't be bad for the pets.
Peter stares at the pets.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Pets mean so much to their masters. But their lives aren't long.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We're fortunate to have one life. Death isn't the opposite of life, but is part of it.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I can't accept that the cause of death is sin.
FLASHBACK
INT. COLLEGE CHURCH. SHUI BIN TSUEN - DAY (1969)
A mass service. Among over 100 STUDENTS, Peter (15) is attending.
PETER (V.O.): We're obliged to join, whether we're believers or not.
We hear:... Prosecute me for my great sin!...We see some BELEIVERS punching their hearts lightly.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh my god! What have we done wrong? Why do we have to prosecute ourselves?
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Do they mean what they say?
END FLASHBACK
Later, walking past a signboard with his wife and Kaji, Peter sees a Chinese character post. He captures a photo.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The word which sounds between "god" or "good" in Cantonese can mean "prosecute". No one should be prosecuted arbitrarily. And no confessions should be coercive.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But for believers, they incriminate themselves and confess voluntarily. Can't help!
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - 20:00
TV news. We see on screen moving images of people everywhere.
PETER (V.O.): It's good for businesses but bad for pandemic control.
We hear: Another 67 patients died because of COVID-19 today.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A black or bad day for them and their families.
INT. BED ROOM - 23:00
Peter is dictating his diary with his smart phone.
PETER (V.O.): Life goal isn't to live eternally which is improbable. We'll just be the best version of ourselves to contribute something good to the life force.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My way is to share little stories and to reflect on how I've lived, each day.
