INT. STUDY - 18:00
Smart phone in hand, PETER sees an incoming mail from Google Maps with the caption: Thank you for your recent contributions.
PETER (V.O.): Recently, I've resumed contributing my reviews on places in Google Maps.
We see on screen: Your recent contributions are a great addition to Google Maps. Thank you for taking the time to share your local knowledge.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Since summer 2017, I've been a Google Local Guide.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What prompted me to take on the role was because I wanted to show my appreciation to a snorkeling guide in Ishigaki.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He took great care of me and captured great photos for me. So, I wrote and published my first review about snorkeling in Ishigaki.
Act 2
EXT. SWIMMING POOL - 20:00
Around a dozen SWIMMERS. Peter is swimming towards the empty semi-circular deep water area.
PETER (V.O.): I don't want to bump into other swimmers.
Swimming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I swim in the sea, I don't have such a problem.
Arriving, Peter is swims in a circle.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I made the right decision not to take part in a "Summit" in person today.
FLASHBACK
INT. STUDY - 09:25
Having set up an iPad Mini facing him, Peter joins a Zoom meeting.
09:30. Peter is focusing on the screen.
PETER (V.O.): It's time.
And then we hear from screen: Let's start five minutes later.
09:35. We hear someone speaking from the screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't see who is speaking. There's a problem with the camera angle.
We see some limited adjustment to the camera angle.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I was there, I'd be able to see everybody.
After several ceremonial speeches, we see a group photo session on screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This can be an embarrassing moment if I was there as I'm nobody.
Later, someone begins to speak on screen with visual aid.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's a typo in one of his slides - "Hing Kong".
Peter grabs his smart phone to check today's stock trading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Judging from the meeting pace, I wonder if the meeting will end at 12:30 as scheduled.
12:30. Leaving his iPad Mini on, Peter walks away.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm hungry. Let me go to the mall restaurant to buy a takeaway lunch.
13:45. Entering Peter from the kitchen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The meeting is still on!
14:15. As the meeting ends, Peter leaves it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me do some professional work now.
Going to a desk, Peter turns on a computer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Ever since I spilt some water into it, it has been behaving erratically.
Peter waits for the computer to respond.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I bought this computer two days after my formal retirement. I feel bad to abandon it.
Peter uses a wireless keyboard to type, but there's no response.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The keys have got stuck most of the time.
Later, we see on screen the computer typing "C" tirelessly by itself. Peter reacts by punching the shift key erratically.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Today, I've wasted a lot of time working on the computer. And I haven't had the time to play a few bass lines.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:30
We see on screen under a Google Maps mail the images of Hatago Matsushima Kumoura and Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
PETER (V.O.): I used the onsen back in Dec 19, 2020; and I go to HKUST regularly. But for others, seeing the images first can help them make decisions.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't do all the good that others need. But I can do all the good I can.
Peter takes note that the images have reached over 70,000 and 60,000 views.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sharing something with others enriches my life too.
Peter smiles a little.
