INT. STUDY - 12:00
PETER is changing.
PETER (V.O.): I've an unusual Saturday lunch appointment.
Wearing blue jeans.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): An old friend Chong wanted me to meet up with his young lawyer relative Brian who is visiting Hong Kong.
Wearing a blue jacket.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've made it plain to Chong that I've little residual value.
Wearing blue socks.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Anyhow, Chong thought we still have something valuable to offer to the younger generation.
Wearing light blue shoes.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): He used the lyrics of the my old song "Do Good for You and Me" to persuade me!
Act 2
EXT/INT. STICKS & FIRE, JUPITER STREET - 12:50
Arriving, Peter sees CHONG and BRIAN waiting for him outside. Having embraced Chong, Peter shakes hands with Brian. Then, a STAFF appears.
STAFF: Sitting outside?
CHONG: We sit inside first.
Going inside, Chong points at a man-with-a-guitar poster.
CHONG (Cont'd): Someone is performing here every Friday evening.
Peter nods.
PETER (V.O.): I'd only perform in public for fun.
Over lunch, Peter chats with Brian. Chong listens with great interest.
PETER: Oh, you flew in to appear on behalf of a client in an arbitration case before the hkiac...I've been a domain name dispute settlement panelist there.
Chatting.
PETER (Cont'd): In one appointment at the beginning of the Covid outbreak, I got a death threat...
Both Brian and Chong look shocked.
PETER (Cont'd): I reported the case to the Police and the matter hasn't been resolved.
Pausing.
CHONG (Smiling): Sitting next to you, do I have to worry about my safety?
PETER: I just let friends know so that they'd be on the alert...
After more chatting, they take a photo together.
CHONG: You'd reach the Airport in good time.
CHONG: Now's the time for us to sing!
Showing Peter his Martin Backpacker, Chong leads Peter to sit outside.
PETER (V.O.): Chong bought it soon after seeing me playing the model.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S MEMORIES OF MARTIN BACKPACKER
A. Tom Lee Music. 2012. Seeing a Martin Backpacker, Peter buys it.
B. Pool side, Quarry Bay, 2012. Playing the Martin Backpacker, Peter sings his song "Do Good for You & Me" to Chong, CATINA, STEPHEN and ALIANA.
C. Hiking trails, Quarry Bay, later. The party happily sing and articulate Peter's song together.
END MONTAGE.
CHONG: Do you still remember the scene when we sang your song "Do Good for You & Me?"
PETER: Yes, one of the happiest moments of my life!
CHONG: I love the song! It's so catchy.
PETER: A music professor friend of mine thought it good too. That he played and sang the song with me motivated me a lot.
We see and hear Peter and Chong playing the guitar and singing happily together.
INT. MTR CABIN - 16:00
Crowded. Holding his smartphone close to his ear, Peter is listening to some songs.
PETER (V.O.): They're my old songs although they're still new to many. Anyhow, I'd write more new songs.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:30
Typing natural language in his smartphone, Peter instructs his 文心一言 assistant.
PETER (V.O.): See if she can visualize my articulation of "Harmonious Echoes" and draws something that depicts the power of connection and the joy in singing songs.
As he sees an AI drawing, Peter saves it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe it has done its best to represent two friends feeling the simple pleasure in creative expression.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While music is the harmonious voice of creativity, song performances are happy echoes of the human kind.
