Act 1
INT. LIVING ROOM - 11:00
Smartphone in hand, PETER focuses on his smartphone, practising languages.
PETER (V.O): Done! I've maintained my Duolingo streaks. I can go to visit Alfred now.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Alfred and I became good friends while attending the Housing Management courses at HKU from1977 - 1980.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When he got married, I gave a hand.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I got married, he and his family doubled my joy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I learned that Alfred had been hospitalized, I've been visiting him daily.
Act 2
INT. TUNG WAH HOSPITAL - 12:20
Ward. ALFRED sits up in bed. His WIFE by his side. As Peter appears, the frail Alfred offers a warm smile.
PETER: Hi Alfred, do you feel better today?
ALFRED'S WIFE: His fever has gone.
PETER: Good!
Getting Alfred's cue, Peter moves closer to him, and they hold hands.
PETER (V.O.): As he has difficulty in speaking and writing, Alfred's grib carries a weight of emotion.
PETER: I go swimming every day, often in the sea. I even swim when I'm travelling overeseas eg in Osaka.
PETER (Cont'd): Who would go swimming in Osaka? Am I stupid?
Alfred nods smilingly.
PETER (Cont'd): I swim even when the beach red flag is up. I know I may get drowned.
Alfred looks shocked.
ALFRED:...But...your...wife...
PETER (Cont'd): She doesn't want to get tanned...But I'd tie a float to my body, so that I won't be difficult to find.
Alfred shakes his head sideways.
INT. SUN YAT SEN PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL 14:00
Peter swims frog style, free style and backstrokes in turns.
PETER (V.O.): By mid-Jan, my wife and I will visit Akita as planned. But we'll drive for several hours to Niigata to meet up with our younger daughter there.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O)(Cont'd): We take action to give her mental support.
INT. STUDIO - 17:00
Peter is playing jazz piano. We hear dissonant chords and unexpected note combinations.
PETER (V.O): I like jazz because there's harmony in dissonance.
EXT. PROMENADE - 18:30
Peter and his WIFE are pushing a carrier cart with Kaji, the family pet, on board.
WIFE: She has walked for more than 10 minutes and started to limp.
PETER: Her left leg needs time to recover after the surgery.
Then, the third quarter moon in the sky gets Peter's attention.
PETER (V.O): I remember vividly that when our elder daughter was a kid, she remarked cutely "Look! The moon is broken!"
Pausing.
PETER (V.O)(Cont'd): Now, she and her nearest are busy decorating their new home near Seoul.
INT. LIFT LOBBY - 19:00
Entering a lift, Peter and his wife bumps into their younger SON and his GIRLFRIEND who are getting out .
PETER & WIFE: Hi! Bye!
Peter has a good look of the couple before the lift door closes.
PETER (V.O): They've been going steady for four years now...not too young to get married...but they still have to develop their career in Sydney.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 22:30
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled: "Hearts in Harmony..." to a draft in his laptop.
PETER (V.O): Reflecting on past moments can deepen family bonds.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Change is inevitabe. My family members have to adapt to new phases in life.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): With hearts in harmony, even silence resonates deeply.
