INT. BEDROOM - 23:00 (Yesterday)
PETER sets his smartphone alarm.
PETER (V.O.): I know I'd wake up well before that.
It's 05:00. Peter opens his eyes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I thought about my court work days ago.
Peter rolls to one side.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I should focus on my challenge ahead.
Peter rolls to the other side.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'd better get up to prepare my cases again.
Act 2
INT. PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE - 08:30
Sitting behind the computer, Peter is studying the small prints on screen.
PETER (V.O.): I know so much about the prevention and control of disease regime in Hong Kong now.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's easy to read as I used to formulate legal policy and issue drafting instructions.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I worked closely with law draftsman to work out detailed provisions.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I had an interest in bi-lingual legislation too.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the 1980s, I anticipated that laws in Hong Kong would become bilingual.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1987, I got the Final Diploma in Legal Translation from the UK Institute of Linguists.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I rejoined the Attorney General's Chambers in 1987 as Crown Counsel, the Law Drafting counsel lured me to join their Division.
Recalling
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I was doing pretty well in assisting appeals on judicial review.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And in 1988, the Law Reform Commission offered me a Senior Crown Counsel post, an elevation I couldn't resist.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, I liked to do things having high impact. Now, I'm down to earth.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How, when and where to wear a face mask or how to drive carefully touch and concern me.
Peter hits the Print icon.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me have a full copy of the new Cap. 599I regulation, just in case.
Peter then instructs his ASSISTANT to prepare exhibits.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No trial preparation is ever enough.
SEQUENCE OF PETER'S PROSECUTIONS TODAY
A. ACCUSED#1 appears in the dock and is then sentenced to 8 weeks imprisonment for possession of dangerous drugs.
B. After some exchanges with the BENCH, ACCUSED#2 pleads guilty and is fined $2500 for careless driving.
C. Having studied Cap. 599I regulation, ACCUSED#3 pleads guilty and is fined $9800 for not wearing a face mask in public.
D. ACCUSED#4 appears in the dock and is then sentenced to 9 months imprisonment for indecent assault of a young girl.
END SEQUENCE
EXT. ROADS - 17:00
Peter is walking towards the Kai Tak area.
PETER (V.O.): Two accused maintained their not-guilty pleas for nearly a year before they pleaded guilty today. Are they in the holiday mood?
Checking phone messages, Peter sees festive greetings.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As to the other two who have to spend time in prison, they've to accept the consequences of their own making.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 23:00
Peter turns on the bedside radio.
PETER (V.O.): After court work, I went to the new Sung Wong Toi station to take the MTR home.
We hear oldies.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And then I bought some fruits in a supermarket.
Then we hear the Tremeloes singing: Even the Bad Times Are Good...

Peter takes a look of his smartphone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have to set the alarm until 2022.
