  6. PETER wakes up, the soft light of dawn filtering through the window.

  7.  

  8. PETER (V.O): It's early for my day ahead....I can't leave the comfort of my warm bed now.

  9.  

  10. Peter drifts off. At 07:45, his phone alarm rings, jolting him awake.

  11.  

  12. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've to arrive at HKUST's Shaw Auditorium at 9.am.

  13.  

  14. Rubbing his eyes, Peter silences the phone alarm.

  15.  

  16. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Today is HKUST's 2024 Congregation. As a Council Member, it's my honour that I can robe like a professor and sit on stage with really learned people.

  18. Pausing.

  19.  

  20. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): And after the Congregation, there'll be a fireside chat, featuriing Jensen Huang of Nvidia.

  22. With a rush of energy, Peter gets out of bed.

  26. INT. SHAW AUDITORIUM - 09:15

  28. A crowded robing room. With the help of an ASSISTANT, Peter changes into formal attire. Then, a conversation catches Peter's attention.

  30. LADY#1: Who are you?

  32. LADY#2: I'm Tony's wife.

  33.  

  34. PETER (V.O): The first lady probably has no Hong Kong connection.

  35.  

  36. Lady#2 then joins TONY to have a photo session with JENSEN.

  37.  

  38. The Council CHAIR sees Peter.

  39.  

  40. CHAIR: Come and take a photo with Jensen.

  41.  

  42. Peter obliges, introducing himself in seconds.

  44. PETER (V.O): I'm not keen in superficial encounters.

  45.  

  46. Later, on stage, Peter and other robed PERSONNEL observe the conferment of honoary doctorates to Jensen Huang, Tony Leung, Michael Lavitt and David Mumford.

  48. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): There is a common theme in the honourees' speeches - persistent self-motivated pursuit of knowledge and skills.

  52. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): David Mumfold remarked that HKUST is the MIT of China.

  54. Later at the foyer, Peter observes the MEDIA interviewing Jensen Huang.

  56. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's very nice that he also praises HKUST as the MIT of China.

  58. INT. CONFERENCE LODGE, HKUST - LATER

  60. Having lunch with OTHERS in a round table, Peter chats with DEAN#1 sitting next to him.

  62. PETER: It's very nice that two honourees have endorsed HKUST as the MIT of China.

  63.  

  64. DEAN#1: Actually, the founding President aspired HKUST to become the MIT of Asia.

  65.  

  66. PETER: Sustaining a lead requires a combination of vigilance, adaptability, and resilience, along with a willingness to continuously learn and evolve.

  68. INT. SHAW AUDITORIUM - LATER

  69.  

  70. Full house. Fireside chat between Chair and Jensen on stage. A backdrop highlights: Technology, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship. Sitting with DEAN#2, Peter listens intensely.

  72. PETER (V.O): He's right. AI has become a universal translator and an automated problem-solver.

  73.  

  74. We hear: ...GPU is more powerful than CPU...

  76. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Yes, machine learning is more effective and efficient than human learning.

  78. We hear:...use AI to emulate first principles into complex systems...such as the human body...

  79.  

  80. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Yes, the third medical school in Hong Kong can be AI-based.

  82. Thinking.

  84. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): And doubts about AI's authenticity can be resolved by asking the machine to set out the reasoning steps that lead to the conclusion.

  86.  We hear:...HKUST is the MIT of China...

  88. PETER: Wow, not a slip of the tongue.

  90. DEAN#2: Our aspiration is to become the MIT of Asia.

  92. PETER: Anyhow, the endorsement boosts HKUST's reputation! Your task to promote the Business School should be easier.

  94. Then, we hear Jensen remarking: ...I've never written any business plans...

  96. PETER (Cont'd): Oh, that remark neutralizes our business plan...

  104. Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Honours and Aspirations..." to a draft in his laptop.

  106. PETER (V.O): A congregation recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in their fields, inspiring others to aspire to similar heights.

  110. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Honourees demonstrate how passionate pursuit of one's goals can lead to transformative impact on self and society.
