  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. STUDIO - 01:00

  4. From under a desk, PETER takes out a Doraemon wall clock.

  5. PETER (V.O.): It isn't working.

  6. Getting a new AA battery, Peter attaches it into the battery compartment at the back of it and then puts his ear close to the clock.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No ticking.

  8. Peter knocks the small plastic unit that contain the clock's mechanisms a few times and checks again.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, it isn't working.

  10. Tapping an iPad Mini, Peter watches video clips about fixing quartz clocks.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It seems that I've to disassemble the unit...What time is it now?

  12. Peter checks the time of another Doremon clock next to the Clavinova.

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. STUDY - 10:30

  15. Focusing on his iPadMini, Peter is watching video clips.

  16. PETER (V.O.): About a week ago, I asked Sage - the AI language model - to recommend good on-line Japanese courses.

  17. Watching.

  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Among others, it recommended "NHK - World - Japan", and I found it good.

  19. Watching.

  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've finished watching the initial 48 episodes. I'm studying them again.

  21. We hear Peter practising: Hong Kong kara kimashita.

  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I want to make my Japanese travels more enjoyable.

  23. We hear Peter speaking: Toire wa doko desu ka.

  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Learning a new language is like living a new life.

  25. Later, we see Peter unscrewing the screws holding the clock's face of his Doremon clock and then removing the clock's hands.

  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm doing something that I've never done before.

  27. While uncovering the small plastic unit, we see Peter causing some damage to it.

  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not a technician. It's likely that I might not be able to re-assemble it again.

  29. Soon, we see Peter breaking a wire accidentally.

  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh...I believe the connection enables the clock to play the Doremon music on the hour.

  31. Pausing.

  32. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To solder it, I might enlist my wife's help again.

  33. We see Peter taking out from the unit a small piece of quartz crystal with a clip.

  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I read that when electric current passes through it, it'd make 32,768 vibrations per second. So delicate.

  35. Later, when Peter puts it back into a tiny hole inside the unit and attaches an AA battery in the battery compartment, we see no vibrations.

  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe something's wrong with the circuitry. I can't fix it.

  37. Thinking.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Even if it's a vintage collectable, it can't tell time.

  39. Looking frustrated, Peter presses the music button at the back of the clock and we hear Doremon music.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Like me, it still has some residual value.

  41. Thinking.

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'll let it stay in my study at least for a while. I won't dump it right away.

  43. Pausing.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the Doremon manga was introduced in late 1969, I was dreaming to become a rockstar.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At my age now, I should be working more for myself.

  47. Pausing.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But my wife and children were captivated and inspired by the Doremon manga series.

  49. Reflecting.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Though illusive, time has its way of showing me what really matters.

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. STUDY - 18:00

  53. From a table, Peter picks up a mini red digital clock.

  54. PETER (V.O.): I bought it in Tokyo over three years ago. It costed 100 yen. It stopped working after a while.

  55. Unpacking a new lithium battery, Peter attaches it into the battery compartment at the back of the clock. We see instant digital display on the front.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Well, I've an additional working clock to tell time. If I'd like to hear Doremon music, I can just press the music button of the Doremon o'clock.

  57. Pressing the button, we hear the clock playing Doremon music.

  58. PETER (Singing):...Ah ah ah, dottemo diaisuki (I love you very much), doraemon.

  59. FADE OUT

  60. THE END
