EXT. PETER'S NT HOME - HIGHWAY - 18:30
Sitting in the driver seat of his red coupe, PETER takes a look of his silver coupe and his blue Smart parked in the driveway.
PETER (V.O.): Today, I've re-energized them.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S CAR MANAGEMENT
A. At a passing bay, Peter sees his WIFE driving off a green Beetle.
B. Peter drives his silver coupe towards NT.
C. After washing it at home, Peter drives his blue Smart to an estate mall.
D. At the drive way, Peter jump-starts his dusty red coupe.
END MONTAGE
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, my wife and I took Kaji to the Vet with the silver Previa. And the rear bumper of our blue MB will be done on Wednesday.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT (YESTERDAY)
Peter's FAMILY is having dinner.
PETER: I've already settled the hit-and-run case with the tortfeasor.
Smiling.
PETER (Cont'd): While we've gained nothing but trouble, we're contributing to Hong Kong's GDP.
INT. STUDY - 10:30 (TODAY)
Peter sees a WhatsApp message on his phone.
PETER (V.O.): The car paint repairer asks me to pay a deposit via FPS.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My younger daughter has told me about FPS, but I've never used it.
Surfing the web with one phone, Peter follows the instructions and keys in some particulars on another phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "FPS" is Faster Payment System. The platform allows customers to make person-to-person cross-bank transfers.
Hitting "Submit", Peter sees: Your transfer has successfully gone through.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Simple and fast. I've learned something new!
INT. ESTATE MANAGEMENT OFFICE - 14:00
A STAFF gives Peter two "2023-2024" car labels.
PETER (V.O.): Another unfinished 2022 business is done.
EXT. LAKESIDE PEDESTRIAN WALK - LATER
Jogging a little, Peter stops to take photos.
PETER (V.O.): I always take the short route to my favourite restaurant. Taking this longer route, I see things brand new.
Peter then jogs past a boathouse.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): OMG, it's the office of the bus operator!
Peter then watches fish swimming in the lake.
FLASHBACK UPON FLASHBACK
EXT. GOLDEN BEACH - 12:30 (TODAY)
Cloudy. Rough water. Peter is swimming.
PETER (V.O.): Having exposed my body in the cold water for quite awhile, have I used up my body's stored energy?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Are the tissues in my limbs freezing? I may shiver soon.
Peter quickly returns to the beach.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hypothermia is life-threatening.
RETURN TO PRESENT
From the car radio, we hear the string introduction of the James Bond song: You Only Live Twice.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In Act 1 of the film, James Bond is shot "dead" in Hong Kong. But in the next scene, he appears in Japan, watching a Sumo match.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Bond and his girls look awesome... I shouldn't forget to be awesome as I only live once.
Act 3
EXT. HIGHWAY - TOWN - CONTINUOUS
Peter drives past a closed car repair shop.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Today is Monday. It's good that it has closed before 8.00pm.
Peter stops his coupe before the traffic lights.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have a regular 9-5 job. I've the privilege to make any Monday enjoyable.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I anticipate something good is about to happen during the week.
Seeing the green light, Peter steps on the accelerator.
