FADE IN
Act 1
INT. DINING ROOM - 21:30 (The night before)
PETER is having dinner with his WIFE.
PETER: The "World of Winners" for Hongkongers will begin tomorrow at 10:30
PETER (Cont'd): I'm sharing a link in the family chatgroup.
Peter taps his smartphone right away.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Maybe next time should be tomorrow. I'm also curious about the process.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I must make an effort to try.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is the fear of missing out or FOMO a common emotion?
Act 2
EXT. ROADSIDE - 09:00
Waiting by a New Beetle, Peter is glued to his smartphone. We see on screen an image of his wife wearing a white wig and a black-haired Peter.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, it was taken when my wife was called to the Bar many years ago...
We see more images of Peter and his wife posing together.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Such a "Memories together" album generated by Google Photos is really good.
As Peter's wife appears and takes the driver seat, Peter closes the car door for her.
PETER: I stay home today. I'll see if I can secure a free air ticket.
Peter sees his wife driving off.
INT. STUDY - 10:15
Passport and credit card beside him, Peter checks his phone calendar.
PETER (V.O.): I've fixed my travels in July and Sept. But I haven't fixed my Aug travel yet.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I think I can take a short trip in end Aug to Tokyo.
Tapping the "HK Express" App, Peter queues up and sees words in bold type.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh "estimated wait time is more than an hour"?
Soon, we see on screen: your estimated wait time is 10 minutes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That sounds right - 10 minutes to 10:30.
The next moment, we see on screen the original more-than-an-hour estimate.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'd better playing the piano.
INT. STUDY - 16:30
We see on screen: your estimated wait time is 10 minutes.
PETER (V.O.): I don't have high hopes.
When the "World of Winners" web page appears, Peter sees a long list of destinations in red.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Not just Tokyo, many other possible destinations I've in mind are also not available now.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But it seems that the free air ticket offer isn't over yet.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But what's the point of travelling to a destination that I don't have inclination to go?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Just because of FOMO?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I just want to row a boat in Oeno Park.
Filling in some particulars on the page, Peter searches for flights.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): They're still available if I pay the listed price.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can afford that. But I don't feel good to do it now.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I don't want to connect with the "World of Winners" in this way.
Act 3
INT. DINING ROOM - 21:30
Having dinner, Peter stares at his wife sitting opposite to him.
PETER (V.O.): FOMO happens if I don't prioritize my time and effort.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): My time and effort are invaluable. I shouldn't get caught up in FOMO anymore.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): For anything I might have missed, I've got what surrounds me now.
