Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's my responsibility to honour Sam as he deserves.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Last night, my wife and I paid tribute to Sam. The funeral parlour was crowded.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): We learned that Sam died in Japan just days before he and his wife completed their around the world cruise.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've researched on causes and symptoms of sudden deaths...
Act 2
INT. UNIVERSIAL FUNERAL PARLOUR - 10:00
Filled with MOURNERS. At the altar, Sam's photo sits surrounded by flowers. A Buddhist NUN leads the rituals and chants softly. Peter follows.
PETER (V.O): I must also follow the hand positioning.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Yesterday, someone kindly corrected my hand positioning, and I felt ashamed.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I studied in a Buddhist primary school and was formally a Buddhist follower. How can I forget...
Hearing "Bow", Peter and OTHERS bow. Suddenly, he spots a familiar face.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Is he Sam?
Peter's eyes widen in disbelief. He compares the face of the man with Sam's photo at the altar. He talks to YK who is following him in the rituals.
PETER: Have you noticed a mourner who looks very much like Sam?
YK: Yes, I do.
PETER (V.O): Okay, I'm not hallucinating...
Later. Peter, YK, MICHAEL and three other PALLBEARERS put on their gloves.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm playing a leading role.
As the moment arrives, Peter steps forward, putting his hand on the polished casket. Others follow. Soon, they march with the casket toward the exit.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): With each step, memories of Sam flood my mind.
EXT. WO HOP SHECK CREMATORIUM - 12:00
Alighting from a coach, Peter sees the look-a-like Sam around.
PETER (to YK): I can't resist my impulse to talk to him.
Peter engages the man.
PETER: I'm Peter...You look just like Sam.
MAN: I get that a lot. I'm Raymond, Sam's twin...
PETER: As Sam's twin, did you get any cue?
RAYMOND: My wife passed away a month ago...
PETER: Oh, I'm very sorry.
RAYMOND: And after that, I still felt a sense of impending doom...
PETER: You thought it was just grief...until hearing about what happened to Sam...
INT. CLUB RESTAURANT - 14:30
Mourners gather for a meal, sharing stories and memories. Peter sits with YK and CLARENCE.
CLARENCE: When Sam arranged a retirement party for you, I joined. You played the guitar to showcase creativity.
PETER (V.O): I thought Clarence was a stranger to me, until now. Sam's death brings us together again.
Nodding, Peter leans in closer to Clarence. They continue their chat.
EXT. TAI PO KAU MTR STATION - 15:30
Peter says goodbye to YK.
YK: I'll send you my concert invitation!
PETER (V.O): Sam always believed in the power of friendship. Even now, he's still connecting us.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 23:30
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled: "In Sam's Shadow...." to a draft in his laptop.
PETER (V.O): A funeral isn't just about mourning; it also serves as a gathering for friends and family to reconnect, share memories and support one another.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Remembering and celebrating the deceased can provide comfort and help individuals move through their grief, reinforcing the idea that love and memories endure.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Even after Sam's passing away, his legacy and the connections he fosters continues to bring people together.
