  4. Soft morning light. A desk cluttered with papers. PETER reads an incoming email on his mobile.


  5. PETER (V.O): Membership changes announcement?


  6. Peter reads on.


  7. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm a bit surprised with the retirements...One retiree is a Member of my Knowledge Transfer Committee.


  8. Leaning back, Peter reflects on the past.


  9. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Another Member who has her tenure extended will assume a more important role...


  10. Recalling.


  11. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I was about to retire from civil service in 2014, the US Consul-General remarked: Who can replace Peter?

  13. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Then, I sanitized myself for two years. From 2016, I've been doing voluntary work for HKUST.

  20. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As the Director of Intellectual Property of Hong Kong, China, I create public value by bridging the gap among the academia, research centres, and entrepreneurs...

  22. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I was passionate about my values.


  23. Looking out of the window, Peter is deep in thought.

  25. Serene. Peter glides effortlessly through the water.

  27. As each stroke of Peter propels him forward with ease, he soon reaches the other end of the swimming area.

  34. Sitting on a sofa, Peter connects the charging cables with his mobiles.


  35. PETER (V.O): I'm so tired. I need a nap...


  36. Then, Peter sees an incoming mail.


  37. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Oh, yes, I've to consider and sign a thank-you letter to the retiring Member...


  38. Pausing.


  39. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Every individual's contributions, no matter how small, play a vital role in the success of a collective effort.


  40. Pausing.


  41. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The teamwork built over time creates lasting impact, even beyond one's tenure.

  43. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I take good notice of the efforts made by team members.


  44. Using a fill-and-sign app, Peter signs a thank-you letter.


  45. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): But change is a fundamental aspect of life, driven by a complex interplay of factors that influence individuals and institutions.

  47. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): And no one is indispensable, as his or her contributions are part of a larger system that can adapt and continue without him or her.

  49. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've already got a SBS after my name. It evidences that I've already played my significant team role way back when.
