Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 06:00
Early morning light filters through the curtains. PETER stirs awake, blinking against the sunlight.
PETER (V.O): Time to rise?
Peter checks the bedside clock.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My eyelids are still heavy.
Grabbing his mobile, Peter sets an alarm for 08:00 and quickly nestles back into his blankets.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): See if I can sleep two more hours.
At 07:58, Peter wakes up, checks the time and deletes the mobile alarm.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Somehow, my body can anticipate when I should wake up. I'm meeting my client at 9:30.
Peter gets out of bed.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Adequate sleep enhances my problem solving skills. I can think clearly and have a more positive mood.
Act 2
INT. OFFICES - 09:25
Waiting area. As Peter in a suit appears before the counter, we hear an INTERPRETOR indicating to the CLIENT.
INTERPRETER: The barrister has arrived.
PETER (V.O.): I've never worked with this interpreter, but I've seen the photo of my client.
Peter goes to the reception to talk to a staff.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I enjoy discharging my professional duties here.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S PROFESSIONAL WORK IN A MEETING ROOM
A. Through the interpreter, Peter explains something to the anxious client.
B. Via the interpreter, Peter poses questions and the client answers.
C. Together, they check the content of a documents before signing it.
D. We see the client becoming more at ease.
END MONTAGE
EXT. STREETS - 11:45
While walking, Peter picks up a mobile call.
SOMEONE (from mobile): Mr Cheung, would you take up the pro bono work in late Sept?
PETER (to mobile): Absolutely...
PETER (V.O): Doing pro bono work was one of the reasons why I became a lawyer....
Peter hangs up, satisfaction evident on his face.
INT. HARBOURVIEW RESTAURANT - 14:00
Picturesque. Peter and his WIFE are being briefed by a MANAGER.
PETER (V.O): We come here to check if the venue is appropriate for us to host a wedding banquet for your elder daughter.
Peter's wife is busy having video calls with their elder daughter in Seoul.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Although the date of the banquet is in late 2025, we've found that many value-for-money venues have been reserved by others.
Later, while having tea at a table, Peter checks his incoming emails.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): A panelist appointment invitation? I haven't had one for quite a while.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): And a while ago, I've my word-processing software messed up, but I haven't had any incentive to fix them.
Peter types his reply: I am in a position to act independently and impartially between the parties.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've no excuse now. The jobs must be done within 14 days.
Then, his wife talks to him.
WIFE: Our elder daughter doesn't quite like the layout and the facilities. She should be the star of the show, and not the harbour view for the visiting guests.
PETER: True, let's keep on searching then. We first began in March this year but got distracted with our Korean classes and tours from April.
MONTAGE OF THE COUPLE'S SEARCH
A. A wedding venue. Peter and his wife appear. After making a call, we hear a reply: Not available.
B. Inside a bus. Having researched, Peter's wife makes calls. We see the same frustrating look on her face.
END MONTAGE
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 21:45
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Justice and Joy" to a draft in his laptop.
PETER (V.O): Justice is often associated with seriousness and legal matters, and joy, which evokes happiness and celebration.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Between professional duties and personal happiness, I value both aspects in life.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): While I hesitate to narrate legal dramas, I don't mind sharing my family-oriented stories.
