KAJI is staring at the PACK LEADER and PETER.
KAJI (V.O.): Both of them are at home - a good cue.
Recalling.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, we had a good time at the park.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love the grass there.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I would love to go as often as possible.
Pausing
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the question is - are we going or not going today,
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - LATER
Kaji sees the Pack Leader going to the door.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Carrying no bags, she isn't going out.
As the Pack Leader opens the door, a MAN appears.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): He hasn't come here for quite a while. Let me greet him.
Kaji climbs on the man.
KAJI (V.O.): If he rang the doorbell, I'd have barked.
MONTAGE OF KAJI'S BARKING
A. Home. Night. Doorbell ringing. Kaji barks "Woof" loudly.
B. As the MAID opens the door, the Pack Leader appears.
C. Kaji runs to greet the Pack Leader home.
END MONTAGE
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): How does the Pack Leader know the man is outside?
Staring at the Pack Leader, the man and Peter.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): They all have hand-held devices.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O)(Cont'd): I don't have any. But I can bark.
FLASHBACK
EXT. ROADSIDE - DAY (A fortnight ago)
While walking past a dog and a CARER, Kaji hears the dog's barking.
KAJI (V.O): A barking dog never bites.
Kaji walks on with the Pack Leader and Peter.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I won't reach my destination if I stop or engage every dog that barks.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Later, Kaji sees the Pack Leader, Peter and the man going to an adjacent unit.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I want to go out...
Kaji jumps up to rest on a sofa.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I believe I've to wait, usual.
After a while, Kaji sees the Pack Leader returning and closing the door.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): That's not good enough. Where's Peter?
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can smell that Peter isn't far away. But I can't see him.
Listening intensely.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can hear some rattling sounds from a distance.
Kaji barks Woof! loudly.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I need to alert the Pack Leader.
PACK LEADER: What's wrong with you? No one is ringing the bell.
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - LATER
The Pack Leader helps Kaji put on her harness as Peter looks on.
KAJI (V.O.): Yes, we're going out!
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): When I feel excited, I bark to communicate.
Kaji goes out with the Pack Leader and Peter.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I'm delighted, I bark to celebrate.
