Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - DAY
Sunlight filters through the curtains. We see Kaji opening his eyes slowly.
KAJI (V.O.): I had a restful slumber. The bed is soft and comforting.
Rising.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): A familiar sensation is building up in my belly.
Kaji takes a look of Peter beside her.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): He's still sleeping.
Sensing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd):The scent of bread is tickling my nose...
Carefully, Kaji jumps out of bed.
Act 2
INT. DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Kaji hears the gentle clinking of plates from the kitchen.
KAJI (V.O.): Our maid must be preparing our breakfast.
Kaji then sees the MAID putting a plate of toasts on the table.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, the perfect answer to my hunger's call!
Excited, Kaji runs back to the bedroom.
INT. BEDROOM/DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Swiftly, Kaji jumps up onto bed and pushes Peter.
KAJI (V.O.): Wake up! Our daily bread is already on the table.
Stirred awake, Peter sees Kaji's eager face.
PETER: Yes, our first thing to do in the morning.
Discreetly, Kaji escorts Peter to the dining room.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I ensure Peter wouldn't go to the bathroom or anywhere first.
FLASHBACK
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
Kaji sees Peter going out with a backpack.
KAJI (V.O.): He seldom wears a bag on his bag...
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Where's he going?
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hope he comes back soon with lots of treats for me.
Kaji sees the door closing.
END FLASHBACK
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I waited and waited...
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't remember how many breakfasts we've missed.
Recalling.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The other night, the Pack Leader gave me a very big treat.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It goes without saying that I had to beg for it.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Have earned it, the Pack Leader would only allow me to enjoy it for awhile.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): When she took it back, I became very angry and snarled at her.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a result, I was punished - too ashamed to mention the particulars.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
Having leapt up onto the bed, Kaji settles down at her chosen spot.
KAJI (V.O.): Playing and exploring aside, I love eating my daily bread.
.Kaji sees Peter wrapping himself with a blanket.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I feel the toast's aroma wrapping around me like a comfortable blanket.
Recalling.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): My memory of the days when Peter was absent - and the absence of our shared breakfasts - makes me appreciate the present even more.
