INT. LIVING ROOM - EVENING
KAJI sees the PACK LEADER looking at her with a mischievous smile.
KAJI (V.O.): What's up?
As Kaji tilts her head, eyes gleaming with curiosity, we see the Pack Leader showing a miniature Santa Claus outfit.
PACK LEADER: You're going to be Santa's helper this evening.
KAJI (V.O.): To put on that funny red-and-white costume again?
PACK LEADER: You did a good job last year.
KAJI (V.O.): Did I?
Having helped Kaji to put on Santa's attire, the Pack Leader steps back.
PACK LEADER: Look at you! You make the cutest Santa's helper ever!
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY (Earlier)
The MAID is brushing Kaji's fur, removing her loose hairs and tangles.
KAJI (V.O.): I enjoy the sensation.
Kaji is looking sleek.
PACK LEADER: Not sure if your double-coated fur can handle the cooler weather outside.
KAJI (V.O.): I've a dense undercoat of short hairs under a top coat of long hairs.
Thinking.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe the undercoat protects me from hot and cold temperatures and the top coat repels moisture and dirt.
RETURN TO PRESENT
EXT. PROMENADE - NIGHT
PEOPLE in coats walk past Kaji, the Pack Leader and PETER.
KAJI (V.O.): The air's refreshing.
We hear the sound of the wind.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't feel cold. My double-coated fur insulates me from the cool air well.
Walking on the grass, Kaji stops to sniff at some spots.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can smell familiar scents, but I don't see any of my friends around.
Walking past COUPLE#1 sitting on a bench, Kaji engages them.
COUPLE#1: Ho, ho, ho...
We see smiles in couple#1's faces.
Walking past COUPLE#2 sitting on another bench, Kaji does the same.
COUPLE#2: Ho, ho, ho...
We see smiles in couple#2's faces.
KAJI (V.O.): No one can pass all the warmth single-handedly, let me help.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): So everyone has to play a role.
Then, they hear some voices.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The night isn't silent.
They see a GROUP dressed in similar attire as Kaji.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): My colleagues?
Then, a MAN approaches and passes Peter a pamphlet.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But it seems they've no interest to work with me.
Observing Peter.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't think the thing he gets is a treat either.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I come in peace!
Silently, Kaji leads the Pack Leader and Peter to walk away from the group.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
After the outing, Kaji relaxes on a sofa.
KAJI (V.O.): My double coat is one of my strengths. I prepare for challenges and can thrive in different situations.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Through dressing up as whatever helper, I've an additional tool to bring happiness to others.
Thinking.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): In spreading joy, I create a memorable experience for myself and those around me.
