FADE IN
Act 1
INT. PAVEMENT - EVENING
KAJI is leading the PACK LEADER and PETER.
KAJI (V.O.): We've just had a great time at the Riverside park.
Walking briskly.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's good that I engaged with some friends.
Walking briskly.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): And now, we aren't going home yet.
Walking brisky.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): We haven't walked along this pavement for a long time.
Sniffing spots.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me see if I can re-discover my favourite spots.
Act 2
INT. PAVEMENT - LATER
Suddenly, Kaji sees a STRANGER and her MASTER approaching quickly.
KAJI (V.O.): I take strangers as friends waiting to happen.
Kaji observes the stranger's physical and behavoural cues.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): She looks unfriendly though.
We see the stranger's raised hackles.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't know why she's so aggressive.
Kaji tenses up, her body language indicating unease.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I need to assess the situation.
Kaji steps back, giving the stranger a direct and steady gaze.
KAJI: Who are you?
STRANGER: I'm the queen of this pavement. And you?
KAJI: I'm me. I don't recognize your authority here.
The stranger paws the ground, showing signs of agitation.
KAJI (V.O.): She may charge me.
We hear the stranger barking at Kaji.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just a bark. I won't back down.
STRANGER: I don't want to share the space here with you.
KAJI: We're Shiba Inu, and you're just a young girl.
STRANGER: So what! I don't need you as my friend. I've many boyfriends.
KAJI (V.O.): She might think I need to compete with her for boyfriends.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have to. I'm the daughter of a recognized beauty queen.
The stranger lowers her front legs, shifting her weight forward, ready to bounce.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): She wants to overpower me. But I won't let my emotion overpower my intelligence.
As we hear and see more growling and snarling, the master restraints the stranger.
MASTER (to Pack Leader & Peter): She likes to engage...
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I refuse to fight with this petty girl. My life is bigger and better than that.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Peace doesn't mean to be in a place where there's no noise or trouble. It means to be in such midst and still to be calm in my heart.
We see Kaji remaining quiet throughout the confrontation.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): A really strong Shiba Inu knows how to be quiet.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): And courage is going on when I may not have the strength.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not young anymore.
Act 3
EXT. PAVEMENT - CONTINUOUS
Kaji parts the stranger gracefully.
KAJI (V.O.): The difference between being aggressive and being assertive is how the behaviour affects the well-being of others.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe there's a lot of strength in just being who I'm.
Reflecting.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Actually, it's how I show up at the showdown that counts.
