Waking up, PETER sees his sleepless WIFE by his side.
WIFE: You're up, right?
PETER: Yes. What's up?
WIFE: I've just booked our air tickets to Busan for next March. .
PETER: Good, there're few direct flights from Hong Kong...and the date of our elder daughter's wedding feast has been fixed.
WIFE: But I haven't booked our return flights...
PETER: Why? We've the weekly Korean class to attend.
WIFE: We can skip one...in fact, we haven't enrolled the language course next year.
PETER: Aren't you committed?
WIFE: Yes...as we want to communicate better with our son-in-law and his family.
Act 2
INT. LIVING ROOM - 07:00
Tapping the Duolingo App on his mobile, Peter begins to learn some Portuguese words and phrases.
PETER (V.O): Among the foreign languages I'm learning, I find Portuguese the toughest.
Practising.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The Portuguese Empire was a colonial power, stretching from Americas to Japan.
Practising.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm learning Brazilian Portuguese, believing I might have better travelling experience in due course.
Soon, we see exhaustion washing over Peter.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I must take a short nap now.
INT. BEDROOM - 08:45
Waking up again, Peter checks the time.
PETER (V.O): Although my nap is short, I've dreamed.
Taking a look of his sleeping wife, Peter gets out of bed.
INT. LIVING ROOM - 09:00
We hear Peter practising Spanish.
PETER (V.O): Spanish isn't easy to learn either. The Spanish Empire was also a colonial power.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As superpowers in the 15thC, the Portuguese and Spanish Empires apportioned their sphere of influence in the "New World" of the Americas.
Later, we see exhaustion washing over Peter again.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I must take another nap.
INT. BEDROOM - 12:45
Waking up again, Peter checks the time.
PETER (V.O): Oh, I've slept really well.
We hear dialogues coming from the living room.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My wife loves binge-watching of K-dramas.
INT. LIVING ROOM - 13:00
Joining his wife on the sofa, Peter checks what's being shown on TV.
PETER: The final episodes of "My Love from the Star"?
WIFE: Yes.
PETER (V.O): Apart from the romance, I'm focusing on the Korean words and phrases that I can understand.
Watching.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I'm interested in doing something, I do it when circumstances permit.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I'm committed to something or someone, I accept no excuses, only results.
Appraising.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Am I committed or just interested in learning Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese and Korean?
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Language of Love" to a draft.
PETER (V.O): Communication and love have universal soft power.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Although peoples speak in different tongues, we're all united in the language of love.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Language learning requires memory and analytical skills. The intellectual simulation should delay the onset of my age-related cognitive decline.
