Sitting at a desk, PETER is writing a cheque.
PETER (V.O.): I've got to pay the rent for my chambers. I've to appear in court from tomorrow.
Peter places a swimming brief, a pair of googles and a towel inside a bag.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, a swim at St Stephen's Bay. Lifeguards service will end tomorrow.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, a possible lunch with my wife...
Peer puts two bananas inside his swimming bag.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If she can't make it, I've bananas to energize myself and stay longer at the beach.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then, I'll do some legal research.
Act 2
EXT. ESTATE ROADSIDE - 09:00
Waiting by a New Beetle, Peter sees his WIFE approaching.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, she's carrying her lunch bag too.
WIFE: Take my car lift to Central?
PETER: Yes, I'm going back to chambers to pay rent.
EXT. OFFICE CAR PARK, CENTRAL - 09:30
Parting his wife, Peter walks towards Admiralty.
PETER (V.O.): About legal research, I can do it in my chambers or anywhere.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Why don't I go to the High Court Law Library and do the research first, as I don't have to rush back from Stanley for lunch.
Peter changes route.
EXT. HONG KONG PARK - 10:00
Peter walks past the Cotton Road Marriage Registry.
PETER (V.O.): My wife and I got married here 30 years ago.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Suddenly, I feel young and romantic.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Many of my songs were composed in parks.
Walking past a serene pond, Peter watches a big red-and-white koi fish swimming leisurely.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My late Malaysian friends loved to visit this Park. They must have seen such a peaceful sight.
INT. HIGH COURT LAW LIBARY - 10:15
Thick books on the table. Peter, the only library user, is studying one of them.
PETER (V.O.): This new book has a slant on practice and procedure.
Scrutinzing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Okay, my legal concern is resolved. It's a statutory regime enacted after my graduation from HKU.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The old law books and notes I'm keeping have only sentimental value.
Leaving.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love to come here as my former office ie the Law Reform Commission, was actually here.
INT. CHAMBERS - 12:15
Having passed the cheque to SECRETARY#1, SECRETARTY#2 reminds Peter.
SECRETARY#2: Your bar membership renewal is due...
PETER: I'll settle that myself.
PETER (V.O.): My barrister status has sentimental value too.
EXT. ST. STEPHEN'S BAY - 13:30
The sun is hiding behind clouds. Waves are crashing on shore. Peter is the lone swimmer.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:15
On Peter's smartphone screen, we see an animated AI drawing entitled "Legal Threads and Sentmental Notes".
PETER (V.O.): Legal threads are intricate and interconnnected.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While I anticipate the future by treasuring the present, I also cherish memories associated with my past.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Adapting to the circumstances, I make my schedule accommodating both professional work and personal fulfillment.
