Act 1
INT. STUDY - 10:00
Smart phone in hand, PETER checks Quora and sees a string of notifications: "Your appeal has been reviewed".
PETER (V.O.): I've won all my appeals. I believe humans have dealt with them.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Days ago, Quora Moderation deleted some of my answers on ground that they're against their policy.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe Quora Moderation is initially done by algorithm-based artificial intelligence (AI) that read my answers and deleted some automatically.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the AI is of a very low level. Only humans can appreciate my concise and precise answers in contexts.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is AI good or bad to humans?
Act 2
INT. STUDY - 14:55
Having tapped "Join Meeting" on Zoom, Peter places his smart phone aside.
PETER (V.O.): Let me hear what others have to say on IP strategies in the start-up context.
Hearing a presenter talking for awhile, Peter dozes off. Soon, he wakes up.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I understand why. My circadian rhythm, or my natural sleep-wake cycle, is at work.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, before answering a Quora question about the common 3.00pm slump, I researched and learned the underlying reason.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've got addicted to Quora, as some of the answer requests make me aware what I don't know.
From Peter's smart phone, we hear a guest talking about his start-up experience in proposing AI solutions.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The computing processing power, the rise of big data and the adoption of cloud-based computing have provided conditions to revive and commercialize AI.
Listening.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the guest's value propositions and target customer segments aren't that strategic.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's no mention of IP at all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For any entrepreneur, to cross the valley of death is a great challenge.
We hear the presenter remarking: Making impact is just as good as making money...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He sounds like a salaried academic.
Leaving the webinar, Peter types "Quora" on the search bar and reads Wikipedia.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Quora was founded in 2009. It was mentioned it had $20 million revenue in 2018.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I only joined Quora in summer, 2019. Then, I thought I needed an e-platform to share my insight on events in Hong Kong, China.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Unlike my FB, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts, my Quora contents have attracted over 7.5 million views so far.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And everyday, I've over 40 Quora answer requests from people all over the world.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although Quora has invited me, I've no intention to monetize my content. I mean to make impact only.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I appealed against the Quora Moderation as a matter of principle - I won't give in to AI.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As human biological evolution is slow, would the full development of AI spell the end of humans?
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:30
Peter reads one of his restored answers in Quora: Every second, we lose 2 but gain 4.
PETER (V.O.): A Quoran asked me if human talents are on the decline. I've checked that in every second, there're 2 deaths and 4 births.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At present, machine learning is shallow and bureaucratic. And there're neither credible conscious AI algorithms nor truly autonomous robots.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Humans have an enormous range of natural capabilities and I believe we'd make adaptive changes.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): AI as a means is good in describing the world as it is with all the prejudice, but it'd never end up telling what a good world should be.
Peter checks other Quora notifications.
