My Blind Spot

  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. BATHROOM, CLUB HOUSE - 20:45

  4. PETER is bathing.

  5. PETER (V.O.): Oh, I've told my wife that we don't need to hire a car during our Sept travel to Wakayama...

  6. Pausing.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've forgotten that, last time, I toured Wakayama alone; and I didn't have any baggage.

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But my wife would carry a baggage, even though we stayed one night in Macao.

  10. Pausing.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): She was dutiful. She meant to work even on Sat and Sun, but she couldn't squeeze the time.

  12. Pausing.

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Do we actually have blind spots?

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. READING AREA, CLUB HOUSE - 21:00

  16. Researching with his smartphone, Peter reads texts.

  17. PETER (V.O.): In a physical sense, blind spots refer to areas in our visual field that aren't registered by the retina.

  18. Reading.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every human has two blind spots - one in each eye.

  20. Reading.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Most people aren't aware of them as the brain fills in the missing information based on the visual context.

  22. Pausing.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Metaphorically, blind spots are biases, assumptions, or limitations in people's thinking that prevent them from seeing things clearly.

  24. FLASHBACK

  25. INT. HIGH COURT LIBRARY - 10:00 (EARILER TODAY)

  26. Peter is reading a thick book.

  27. PETER (V.O.): I know I don't know much about this non-IP area of the law.

  28. Reading.

  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know I learn fast if there's a real problem I've to resolve.

  30. END FLASHBACK

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, that wasn't my blind spot, as I recognized it.

  32. FLASHBACK

  33. INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - 16:00 (EARLIER TODAY)

  34. LADIES and GENTLEMEN. Peter is taking part in a meeting.

  35. PETER (V.O.): Just then, I was talking about due process in the legal sense.

  36. Pausing.

  37. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Then a colleague remarked on the expression in a non-legal sense.

  38. END FLASHBACK

  39. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's the colleague's blind spot.

  40. INT. GENT'S TOILET - 17:30

  41. A GENTLEMAN is talking to Peter.

  42. GENTLEMAN: What's the "act" you're referring to earlier?

  43. PETER: "Act" is about taking corrective actions in the "Plan-Do-Check-Act" process...

  44. PETER (V.O.): I'm surprised that he doesn't seem to know.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, "Plan-Do-Check" is easy to understand, but not the "Act"

  47. END FLASHBACK

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was his blind spot. But having addressed it, it isn't anymore.

  49. Pausing.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I thought this management strategy I've been using was known to all. It's actually my blind spot!

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. BEDROOM - 23:00

  53. Working on his laptop, Peter selects one of his AI drawings.

  54. PETER (V.O.): Humans have strengths, weaknesses and blind spots.

  55. Pausing.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That people may not see eye to eye on everything doesn't mean that they can't be close.

  57. Pausing.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Friends are always connected by heart.

  59. FADE OUT

  60. THE END
