Act 1
INT. STUDY - 11:00
PETER is checking answer requests on Quora.
PETER (V.O.): A Quoran ask me questions on aesthetics.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Aesthetics investigates the nature of beauty and art from any sources.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Aesthetics explains why we consider something beautiful or artistic, impacting on our moods and beliefs.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Aesthetics is our critical reflection on Nature, art and culture.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the unresolved issue is whether beauty or art is intrinsic or extrinsic.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. HKU CAMPUS - DAY (YESTERDAY)
On his way to the Law Library, Peter stops at a sidewalk stream, watching the reflections of green trees in the water.
PETER (V.O.): It's a simple and even perfunctory sight.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But it reminds me of the small pond that I saw near the Knowles Building decades ago. Green is the prime colour of Nature.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Nothing in Nature is static. Nature in her green soothes afflictions.
At a Main Library lift lobby, Peter sees an oil painting of a man with a pile of books by his side.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's just oil fixed on canvas. It doesn't appeal to me.
Inside an Old Wing section, Peter flips through books about visual arts.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't like them. My experience and judgment could be different if I see them in galleries.
Exiting the Main Library, Peter sees a sculpture of a nude female reading a book in a lying position.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Even if it's artistic, it doesn't look beautiful to me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I only see women in bikinis reading novels on beaches.
END FLASHBACK
INT. STUDIO - 15:00
Having tuned an orange Gibson electric guitar, Peter plays fingerings with a motif.
PETER (V.O.): I'm warming myself up. See if I can compose works of harmony in sound soon.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My songs are raw and real. They're beautiful and artistic to me!
Picking up a Fender Villager acoustic guitar, Peter tunes its 12 strings with a Tuner App in his smart phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can tell dissonance from consonance.
As Peter strums the guitar, we hear harmony.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Quoran asks me if something aesthetically pleasing has a redeeming quality about itself?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I think it's just a cultural perception. Aesthetics can't be independent of human value, experience and judgment.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But, do we have to be deeply sensitive before we can have the aesthetic emotion to appreciate the beauty of art or Nature?
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sensitivity aside, our emotion and intellectual may also count.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And when such aesthetic judgment is recognised and declared, it isn't just for the individual, but for everyone.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the final analysis, is Nature holding the key to human's aesthetic satisfaction?
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 20:30
Tapping Quora on his smartphone screen, Peter reads his answer on aesthetics.
PETER (V.O.): There're very few views. Aesthetics isn't easy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Simply put, aesthetics is the pleasant, positive and compelling appearance and inner significance of a sight or a person.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Nature is beautiful as it looks like human art. Art is beautiful because we, as part of Nature, are conscious of it looking like Nature.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Full of twists and turns, life is a beautiful art. And we're all artists.
