On the Move

  3. INT. BEDROOM - 09:00


  4. Sitting up in bed, we follow PETER to see images of glamorous and exotic travel destinations on his mobile screen.


  5. PETER (V.O): Quite a lot of Spring travelling adverts.


  6. Pausing.


  7. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In January, I went to Okinawa to see Sakura blossoms.


  8. Scrolling the screen


  9. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In February, my wife and I flew to Seoul, joining our elder daughter and her boyfriend to transact important family businesses in Busan.


  10. Pausing.


  11. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My wife and I have already fixed our travels in April and May, but my wife refuses to adopt my monthly travelling hobby.


  12. Seeing a notification caption on screen, Peter's eyes become wide open.


  13. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): "Travel gets branded as an achievement...Is that what it really is?"

  15. INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS


  16. FLASHBACK


  17. INT. LIFT - DAY (May 2014)


  18. Having greeted each other, Peter and a RESIDENT begin small talks.


  19. RESIDENT: I believe you've retired. What do you do now?


  20. PETER: I'm writing screenplays and songs at home.


  21. RESIDENT: What for? How to write them?


  22. Before Peter finishes his elaboration, the lift door opens and they part.

  24. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Such embarrassing incidents repeat.

  25. Recalling.


  26. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): By default, I travelled at least once a month after retirement.

  28. INT. LIFT - DAY - (Sept, 2014)


  29. A BUSYBODY chats with Peter.


  30. BUSYBODY: I haven't seen you appearing on TV for a quite a while...


  31. PETER: I've retired.


  32. BUSYBODY: What do you do now?


  33. PETER: I travel monthly.


  34. The busybody stops prying.


  35. END FLASHBACK


  36. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Seeing interesting places, cultures and peoples are enriching experiences.


  37. Thinking.


  38. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The idea of travel as an achievement has been popularized by the social media.


  39. On screen, we see images of someone visiting somewhere.


  40. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): People often share travel experiences to showcase their adventurous lifestyles.

  42. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I believe there's the perception that frequent travels equate to personal success.

  44. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's true that travel can contribute to personal growth and valuable experiences.

  46. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): But unlike personal relationships, career accomplishment, or creative pursuits, travel isn't inherently an achievement,

  48. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): True fulfillment and personal growth come from a variety of sources and experiences.

  50. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Travelling isn't a guaranteed path to become an interesting person, nor should it be the sole measure of one's achievement.

  52. INT. BEDROOM - 23:00


  53. Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "On the Move" to a text.


  54. PETER (V.O): "On the move" is a dynamic lifestyle. It aligns well with my stories both before and after retirement.

  56. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My monthly travel hobby now has become a significant chapter of my life, allowing me to create meaningful memories.


  57. Reflecting.


  58. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Travelling solo provides the space and solitude for me to contemplate life and return with a fresh perspective.
