Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 09:45
PETER wakes up, noting his WIFE is still sleeping.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, I've slept so well. Today's a holiday.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Got to pick up my son and then other family members at Hung Shui Kiu.
EXT. NIPPLE MOUNTAIN - 11:30
Crowdy. In a car, the FAMILY arrives at the mountain base. Later, Peter, supported by his son, walks his MOM up to three linked tombs. We see three RELATIVES are already there.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, our relatives who haven't come since Covid have already cleared the way for us!
Having surveyed the tombs briefly, the family looks very pleased.
ALL: Oh! You all have already removed the partly fallen long and thick tree branch on top of the graves!
RELATIVES: It's already detached from the tree. We cut it into small pieces with an electric power saw and dispose of it.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
EXT. NIPPLE MOUNTAIN - LAST CHUNG YEUNG FESTIVAL
Looking at a partly fallen long and thick tree branch on top of the graves, the FAMILY looks very disturbed.
BROTHER#1: It's bothering our ancestors and us. But we don't have the equipment and knowhow to deal with it, safely.
Discussing.
BROTHER#2: If we disturb the status quo unskillfully, the consequences can be disastrous.
Discussing.
BROTHER#3: Until it has completely fallen, there's nothing we can do about it meanwhile.
END FLASHBACK
The family then decorates the graves with flowers, offers food, drink and burns incense.
PETER (V.O.): That's how we pay our respect to ancestors.
Later, one RELATIVE has a solemn exchange with Peter.
PETER: ...We'd love to see her at a convenient time.
Later, Peter shares news happily to all.
PETER:...Please mark the date...
Then, we hear the family chatting cheerfully about a possible family project at Hung Shui Kiu.
PETER (V.O.): We do leave important items to discuss or share on tomb sweeping day.
Later, under a little sunshine, Peter helps his Mum go downhill.
EXT. TSUEN WAN CEMETARY - 14:30
Together with his wife and son, Peter is paying respect to his late Dad.
PETER (V.O.): My Dad died in 2011, just months after I had become a department head.
SON: He was 79.
PETER (V.O.): He was my Grandpa's beloved son.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My siblings knew I was my Dad's beloved son.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I always remember the times when he cooked and shared Sweet Potato Soup with me after a hard day's night.
Later, at an exit, Peter stops to take a photo of a plaque.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The two lines at the right hand bottom summarize my emotions today.
We see "遇順境，處之淡然; 遇逆境, 處之泰然 "。
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The first line means that "When things are fine, we should remain indifferent or detached".
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It emphasizes the idea of keeping a calm and detached attitude towards a situation, without getting too emotionally invested.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The second line means that "When things aren't fine, we should handle them calmly or deal with composure".
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It emphasizes the idea of being able to handle calmly and effectively deal with a situation, without becoming overwhelmed by stress or pressure.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Listening to oldies, Peter is working on a laptop.
PETER (V.O.): Chung Yeung Festival in Autumn and the Ching Ming Festival in Spring are times for reflection and remembrance.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They're occasions for the living to honor the contribution and legacy of ancestors and for relatives to engage.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've heard bad news and I've shared good news. Moreover, I've also shared memories and stories of those who have passed.
