  4. PETER goes to see Nana, the family pet turtle. Repeats.

  5. PETER (V.O.): Just about one more day to live.

  6. Pausing.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How should I spend the day with Nana?

  8. Peter talks to his sleepy WIFE.

  9. PETER: I may bring her somewhere during the day.

  10. WIFE: It'd be a cold day. In any event, Nana won't enjoy that.

  11. PETER (V.O.): True. Home is nice and warm.

  12. Thinking

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is it just my wishful thinking that Nana would like to spend the day with me?

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. BEDROOM - 07:00

  16. In bed, Peter is in thoughts.

  17. PETER (V.O.): When our younger son was reading Primary 4, he liked to have a baby red-eared slider turtle as a pet.

  18. Recalling.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My wife bought a pair for the sake of companionship. She has been taking care of the turtle food.

  20. Pausing.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, Nana and her partner "Tai Kou" have been with us for over 15 years.

  22. Recalling.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Our various maids over the period have been cleaning them and feeding them daily.

  24. Recalling.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We only cared more about the turtles' welfare when they had grown up.

  26. Pausing.

  27. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I only started playing with them after my formal retirement. I let them bite me in the past year or so.

  28. Thinking.

  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So Nana should like to spend her day with Tai Kou.

  30. Pausing.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They've been separated since Nana's prolapse. We don't want Tai Kou to bite her or mount on her.

  32. INT. BATHROOM - 08:00

  33. A space. Peter puts Nana in a transparent box next to Tai Kou.

  34. PETER (V.O.): They should be able to see, hear and smell each other.

  35. Observing.

  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Can Tai Kou sense Nana is dying?

  37. Later, Peter lets Tai Kou have a better view of Nana.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although our maid has said nothing about Nana, she was the first to discover Nana's prolapse.

  39. INT. SITTING ROOM - 16:45

  40. Returning, Peter sees the setting sun. Immediately, Peter puts Nana's box facing it.

  41. PETER (V.O.): The last sunset for Nana.

  42. Recalling.

  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Out of the blue, Nana suffered prolapse in the night of Dec 12, 2022. She still ate her meal on the morning of Dec 13, 2022.

  44. Pausing.

  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Since then, she has neither eaten nor moved the lower part of her body.

  46. Pausing.

  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe that's nature's way to solve a serious problem.

  48. Pausing.

  49. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was unrealistic and hoped for a miracle.

  50. Act 3

  51. INT. SITTING ROOM - 19:00

  52. Wind howling outside. Peter stares at Nana's motionless body.

  53. PETER (V.O.): Now, I don't want time to crawl.

  54. Peter's wife adds a blanket underneath Nana's box.

  55. WIFE: Treasure your last night with Nana.

  56. PETER: I accept the reality that Nana can't live the life she wants anymore.

  57. Later, Peter returns to check Nana again. Repeats.

  58. PETER (V.O.): I don't want to leave important words unsaid - I love you Nana.

  59. Peter touches Nana tenderly.
