Peter (20) sees a Made Simple series on the shelf.
PETER (V.O): Last year, I had my second and last attempt to get admitted to HKU.

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): If I want to try again, I need to secure a pass in Maths at the ordinary level to become eligible.

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): But I didn't take Maths since Form 4. And since May 1974, I've been working in the Housing Dept.

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's a reasonably well-paid job. Should I be content?

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I want to understand why I think, feel and behave in the way I do.

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Should I learn Maths by myself and keep my dream alive?
INT. HARVARD KENNEDY SCHOOL - DAY (2003)
Lecture theatre. Sitting among 60 senior EXECUTIVES, Peter (49) follows a PROFESSOR'S lecture attentively.
PROFESSOR: Social psychology focuses on how individual's thoughts, feelings and behaviours are influenced by the actual, imagined and implied presence of others.
Pausing.
PROFESSOR (Cont'd): It examines how social and environmental factors shape human behavours and interactions.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): So, I need to understand not just myself, but also myself in social settings.
PROFESSOR (Cont'd): Understanding the social factors that underlie human behaviour can predict real-world phenomena.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I see!
RETURN TO PRESENT
EXT. SILVERSTRAND BAY - 16:30
Lying flat on a floating platform in the swimming area, Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O): Ricky told me that, he and his team took 76 hours to complete their recent Newport Bermuda Race. They ranked 12 out of 160 sail boats.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In 2007, I had just a brief experience in a speed boat in the North Atlantic Ocean, near Charleston.
Daydreaming.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Just to recall the experience makes me happy.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The PERMA model identifies important factors that contribute to well-being.

PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Do the biological and social processes impacting on one another?
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In my Asian view, Positive emotions ie the P is the necessary and sufficient condition for PERMA.

Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "PERMA Appraised..." to a draft.
PETER (V.O): Overcoming negative emotions is often the greater challenge in enhancing one's well-being.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Engaging in activities that foster a sense of purpose and mastery can lead to life satisfaction.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Embracing lifelong learning and being open to discovering new knowledge and perspectives provides a sense of accomplishment.
