FADE IN
Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 16:00
Via an iPad Mini, PETER is attending a Zoom meeting.
PETER (V.O.): I meant to attend in person...
We hear from the iPad Mini:...About 100 trillion neutrinos pass through your body every second without interacting with other particles in your body...
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The professor taking the chair professorship researches on neutrinos. I want to know more.
Surfing the web with his smart phone, Peter reads the small prints on screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Neutrinos are massless particles that travel at near lightspeeds. Studying neutrinos may provide a clue as to how simple particles evolve into complex ones.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Neutrinos were first detected in 1956. And the scientists got the Nobel Prize in 1995.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Delayed recognition aside, I wonder if any scientists can explain why there're neutrinos.
Act 2
INT. BEDROOM - 17::00
Peter is playing bass lines to the beats with a black-and-white Hofer violin bass guitar, using a mini Vox bass amplifier.
PETER (V.O.): I bought this bass guitar from the Wanchai store of Tom Lee Music in 2013.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Whenever I didn't have any business lunch appointment, I would go to the store and buy something.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I knew I was enjoying my final year of civil service, having already worked for 39 years.
Later, Peter picks up a semi-hollow trampas green SE Zach Meyers guitar and plays fingering chords.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Soon after my retirement, a Open U professor asked me to write a song to celebrate the university's 25 anniversary.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having written a trilingual song, I bought this guitar and later used it to perform the song on stage at Open U.
Playing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Later, it seemed there's something wrong with a switch and I stored the guitar under the bed.
We hear nice rhythms.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was only yesterday that I picked it up and fixed the bad-contact problem.
We hear nice guitar sounds.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is today Sept 26?
Putting aside his guitar, Peter checks the phone calendar and sees "26".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sept 26, 1984 was an important day in Hong Kong's history. The Sino-British Joint Declaration and the three Annexes were initialed.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While I was reading my 2nd and 3rd years Law at HKU, the British and Chinese Governments were negotiating the future of Hong Kong post June 30, 1997.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Despite the uncertainties, Sharon and I bought our first home. The mortgage interest rate soon went up to over 18%.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As the property market didn't rebound very quickly, we seized the opportunity to buy our second home in 1985.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And this year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's rejoining the motherland on July 1, 1997.
Surfing the web, Peter checks "This Day in History: Sept 26". We see on screen: First televised US presidential debate in 1960; Beatles released "Abbey Road" in 1969...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes I bought the Beatles album.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) Then, I was 15 and had begun working part-time in Castle Peak Hotel.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My dream was to become a rock star, failing that, I was content to become a guitarist working in nightclubs.
Peter takes a look of his guitar gear.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And now, I'm entertaining myself in my bedroom.
Peter smiles.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 23:00
Peter checks the time.
PETER (V.O.): I'm made by history.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While living in the moment, I'm also becoming history with every action that I take.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): To celebrate every day of my life is fundamental.
FANTASY SEQUENCE
We see about 100 trillion neutrinos passing through Peter's body every second at near lightspeeds...
