FADE IN
Act 1
Relaxing in a sofa, PETER is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O): Life is full of ups and downs. It's true that without the downs, the ups would mean nothing.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): For the downs, I don't admit permanent failures, but I accept temporary setbacks.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Learning from temporary setbacks, I strive to create new opportunities.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Nurturing a positive mindset and taking care of myself, I build my resilience to bounce from setbacks.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've also set clear boundaries to protect my time and energy - saying no to additional commitment when necessary.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. A COUPLE'S HOME - 19:30 (Yesterday)
Coffee table. Picking up a 2023 Harvard Business Review, Peter flips through the pages.
PETER (V.O.): I like to read its articles, some insights can be timeless.
Then, his eyes widen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Micro-stresses? That sounds intriguing.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Micro-stresses are those small, subtle stressors that affect our overall well-being.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What are the common examples of micro-stresses?
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Dealing with traffic congestion, crowded public transportation or long commuting times...Yes, during rush hours in Hong Kong.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Uncomfortable temperatures, cluttered spaces, noisy neighhours...Hongkongers get used to them.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): High workload, multitasking, deadlines, non-collaborative workmates...Workplaces are competitive.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Constant connectivity, excessive notifications, stay updated with emails, messages and social media...All feel them.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Self-imposed high standards, achieve personal goals or strive for perfection...Those are my stressors too.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Dealing with bills, managing expenses and worrying about financial stability...I wish to lose less money in Hong Kong stocks.
Reading and pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Navigating social situations, conflicts or feeling the need to constantly please others...Yes, "may it please the court..."
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While each micro-stressor may seem insignificant on its own, the accumulation of multiple small stressors can have a cumulative effect on a person's well-being.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the brain perceives such micro-stressors, would it release stress hormones to prepare the body for the "fight-or-flight" responses?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My hunch is that the micro-stressors can still elicit stress responses in the body, although in a milder degree than acute or severe stressors.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Meanwhile, coping strategies include: self-care, time management, spending time with loved ones...I do a lot of positive self-talk.
Seeing the COUPLE coming out from the kitchen, Peter refers to the magazine.
PETER: You two should read the article on micro-stressors.
They look a bit loss.
PETER (V.O.): Am I creating a micro-stressor for them?
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Silent Struggles..." to a text.
PETER (V.O): "Silent Struggles" are relatable to many people.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): There're often inner battles and burdens that individuals face silently, without others being aware.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): In the silence of struggles, I hear the sound of resilience through adversity.
