Setting his tea down. PETER reads a WhatsApp message.
PETER (V.O): The notice was sent to me yesterday. I didn't have a chance to read it until today.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've been wondering how Sam would conclude his 100-day around-the-world cruise...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Now, I understand why he stopped posting on Facebook several weeks ago.
Peter begins to type on screen.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Jane is so nice to facilitate the wreath arrangement.
Wondering.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Having enjoyed life with style, I believe Sam would smile.
Act 2
INT. FRUIT STALL, SHEUNG WAN - 12:00
An array of seasonal fruits.
PETER (V.O.): I bought strawberries and cherries before...Alfred liked them.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me try to buy something different today...
Peter focuses on Japanese Shine Muscat nestled in a nice basket.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It stands out, but I don't know if Alfred would like it.
INT. TUNG WAH HOSPITAL - 12:30
ALFRED is sitting up in bed. Peter chats with him.
PETER: Decades ago, you told me you're very proactive in recruitment interviews...you'd say "Try me" to prospective employers.
Nodding his head, Alfred smiles. Later, Alfred draws his WIFE's attention to the Shine Muscat on the bed table.
ALFRED'S WIFE: You want to try it?
As Alfred nods, she carefully peels the green grapes before offering them to Alfred. As he bites down, Alfred smiles.
PETER: Sweet?
As Afred nods, Peter smiles.
PETER (Cont'd): Incidentally, today is Winter Solstice Day.
ALFRED'S WIFE: Today is Winter Solstice Day?
PETER (V.O.): I'm not surrpised. Since June 3 this year, Alfred has been the centre of her world.
INT. ELDERLY HOME - 16:30
Warm and inviting. Peter's WIFE can't wait to greet Peter's MOM.
WIFE (pointing at Peter): Can you recognize him?
MOM: Yes, my eldest son, Fai!
Peter smiles widely.
PETER: Last time, you couldn't recognize me but believed I was one of your relatives.
WIFE: How about me?
MOM: Err...
PETER: She's your daughter-in-law of over 30 years!
As Peter's smiles subside, several STAFF are busy in helping Peter's Mom to wear the right clothes and preparing for the right wheelchair.
PETER (V.O.): They're so helpful.
When Peter's WIFE gently pushes Peter's Mom in a wheelchair through an exit, Peter informs an OFFICER-IN-CHARGE.
PETER: We'll be back at 9pm.
INT. RESTAURANT - 18:30
The FAMILY gathers around a table, filled with dishes. Laughter and joy fill the air. A BROTHER makes a remark.
BROTHER: The staff in the current elerly home has been doing a very good job.
All nod.
BROTHER (Cont'd): But in her former one, I felt bad to see Mom's hands being tied to the bed...
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 22:45
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled: "Solstice Smiles...." to a draft in his laptop.
PETER (V.O): Winter Solstice is a time of celebration and family gatherings.
Listening to his song "Winter Solstice", Peter checks the snapshots he has taken on his mobile.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Joy can be found in simple moments, such as visiting loved ones and sharing meals. Even in challenging times, love and support can uplift spirits.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Relationships are what truly enrich our lives. Today was perfect!
