FADE IN
Act 1
INT. STUDY - 12:00
PETER shuts down a desktop computer.
PETER (V.O.): I've already issued my decision regarding a domain name dispute to the ADNDRC secretariat.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday night, I read about an obituary of "one of the last true Hong Kong Bohemians" who died at the age of 70.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A Bohemian is a person with literary and artistic interests who lives and acts without regard to conventional rules.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I envy such a lifestyle. Potential retirees might yearn for it too.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But the Bohemian faced the challenge to sustain himself in Hong Kong.
Act 2
INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS
Having screen time, we see Peter bumping into a NHK World documentary.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "One Hamlet, One Family"?
We see Peter watching the documentary.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): After the earthquake and tsunami, the protagonist moved to the remote part of Akita Prefecture to pursue his goal of being self-sufficient.
Watching planting and harvesting of rice.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Wow, living off the land from season to season...
Watching scenes of nature, summertime and wintertime.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Later, he had a woman, then a son and a daughter?
Wondering.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): While his woman shared his ideals, he must take good care of the interest of the children...
We see the moving images of the family and their shiba inus on screen.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, he admitted that he needed some income...
Watching.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I like the sight of nature, the smell of the breeze, the taste of honey and the touch of the waves.
We see end credits on screen.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I resonate with music, love of my loved ones and dogs, and most of all, the feeling of being fully alive.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I think neither the late Hong Kong Bohemian nor the Japanese hermit had pretended what they wanted to be.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Pursuing their dreams, they must have had lots of sweat on their brows.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But the art of living is like all arts, it must be learned and practised with labour, skill and judgment.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Perhaps a way out is to dream like a Bohemian or hermit, but work like a dog.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Is that me?
Tapping an AI drawing app, Peter inputs instructions.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me create an AI drawing in cubism form, depicting a hermit
in a rural area and a Bohemian in an urban setting.
Checking one of the AI drawings, Peter looks pleased.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): By learning the art of living, one should treasure the present. I'm approaching the age of 70.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Death isn't the opposite of life, but a part of it.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): What dies inside one while one is alive is the greatest loss in life.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Who dies, dies, who lives, lives.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 19:30
Working on his smart phone, Peter sends a signed pdf version of his decision.
PETER (V.O.):Another task done! Living in favourable or unfavourable conditions is part of living.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm still working in retirement. The art of living is to bring dreams and reality together.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It'd be ideal if all recognize life is a celebration and the whole world is one family.
