INT. DINING ROOM - 08:15
Morning light. Dressed in a suit, Peter is having breakfast.
PETER (V.O): It has to be a quick one. I've a 9:30 meeting with a client.
Peter sees KAJI, the family pet, sitting rather impatiently at his feet, eyes wide and hopeful.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Yes, we haven't had breakfast together for six days.
Breaking off a piece of his toast, Peter offers it to Kaiji.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): While we're in Tokyo, we missed you a lot.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): We bought over 7kg of pet food and checked in as one of our priority baggage.
Smiling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Our main agenda in Nov is to monitor how she'd recover from her surgical operation in early Nov.
Act 2
INT. OFFICE - 09:30
Peter is having a meeting with his CLIENT in the presence of an INTERPRETER.
PETER (V.O): Since our last meeting, I've travelled to Tokyo with my wife twice.
Via the interpreter, Peter explains the contents of a document to his client, who nods from time to time.
INT. MEGABOX - 11:00
Taking the escalators up alone, Peter stands on the left.
PETER (V.O): Having done my work nearby, I'd like to shop here.
Sportswear section. Peter checks some swimming briefs.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's my way to do work-life balance.
Having paid for his purchase, Peter takes the escalators down.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Wait a minute, which side should I stand?
Peter observes customers going up.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Here isn't Tokyo...standing on the right in Hong Kong.
Peter stands on the right of the escalator.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): After the thrill of Tokyo, the familiar Hong Kong has become a bit distant.
EXT. CAR REPAIR SHOP - 12:30
Depositing his signal red S13, Peter approaches a numeric blue SMART. A MECHANIC greets him.
MECHANIC: All set, Mr Cheung, cool as new.
PETER: Good, the air-conditioning of my s13 has to be fixed again...
EXT. ROADS TO SILVERSTRAND - 13:00
Gripping the steering wheel with the smart logo at the centre, Peter drives as the cityscape fades behind him.
PETER (V.O): This compact car is stored in my NT home most of the time. Let me stretch its little legs.
MONTAGE/FLASHBACK OF PETER'S TRIP FROM HONG KONG TO TOKYO (17 Oct, 2024)
A. CX Wing, 00:15. Peter and his WIFE are having something light.
B. In flight, 02:15. They're being served with a nice meal again.
C. Narita Immigration control. 07:00. They're waiting after short queues.
D. Comfort Inn, 09:30. They deposit their bags.
E. Tokyo Midtown: They tour around aimlessly.
E. Gansozushi, Shinjuku. They're having sushi and green tea.
INT. HOTEL ROOM - 15:30
Scattered luggage. Peter slumps onto the edge of the bed as his wife watches.
PETER: The weight of exhaustion is pressing down on me.
Lying down, Peter sinks into soft pillows.
PETER (Cont'd): Don't wake me up for anything... If you want to make the most of today, please go ahead without me...
Peter closes his eyes.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. DINING ROOM - 22:15
Enjoying his Sweet Potato Soup, Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "The Calm After Tokyo..." into a draft screenplay on his mobile.
PETER (V.O): After exciting and exhaustive times, routines can bring stability and comfort.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Whether in Tokyo or in Hong Kong, I strive to embrace change.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): New experience can shape perspectives and bring greater clarity of vision.
